Interesting. I'd also like to see what a hopper full of paint does to it. Also, it's a little hard to 'judge' the balance when its really hanging there but at least it does give you some idea.

I just used a pretty thick candle to balance my 2k2 with a full tank and full evo 2, it held up. I only have a rail to use, because I recently sold my drop. It was pretty balanced, it was just a tad bit back heavy, probably due to the evo. I will get pics ASAP.

I prefer to keep my body more square when shooting a paintball gun, which is where the drop helps me. The rail kind of pushes my body into a more traditional shooting stance, which is not what I want. I find it much easier to work the left if i have my body squared behind bunkers. With a rifle or submachine gun i don't have to go to my left often, if ever (since I tend not to find myself in too many actual firefights!)
Thats why I use rails. I like to similate a real firearm so when I move in for the kill I get the satisfation of getting a REAL kill.

          Yes, im kidding.

          Much <3 to rails.

            My thoughts...

When the gun rests on the web of your hand, I think the balance is better because it pivots on the spot where the gun rests(with drop forward). Without the df the pivot point is further back. Plus, I like the tighter position with the df. Its all preference.

I really believe balance, or your perception of it has to do with your build. I'm 5'10" and I've tried a rail. It just wasn't comfortable. I tried a 4" and an 8" drop. The 4" was a really comfortable fit and balance to me.

Ultimately,it really makes little difference. If you shoot an electro and especially if you prodomenently walk the trigger (that's all I ever do,'cept if I'm digging hard), your holding the foregrip and have the tank pulled into your shoulder, so your shooting hand is not supporting any of the weight of the marker regardless. At least mine doesn't. It's just sitting there ripping on the trigger . I use a drop primarily to set up the distance between the foregrip and my shoulder so that when in that position, the trigger and my hand are in a comfortable and pleasing relationship to each other and totally loose/relaxed.The only real arguement for a rail is if you like a longer distance between you and the marker OR your shooting style puts the tank itself between you and the grip frame creating an uncomfortable reach to the trigger based on how you pull it. For me, it does not and my hand and fingers are much more loose/relaxed when my arm isn't stretched out away from me. Much like it is when I play guitar, which I have been for 25+ yrs so I have a pretty good idea what works best for the speed and accuracy of those tendons.

                SO........

I still stand behind my initial opinion that there is no 'correct' setup, only one that feels and works best to you, the shooter.

Well well well, I am going to have to disagree with some of your comments, i have one of the largest drop forwards and the balence is right behind the gripframe where my thumb is
In the picture you can see how the gun is still front heavy very slightly

I dangled my gun from a lanyard and was holding it so the vertical(up toward the roof) is where the yellow cord is, so it shows you how its balenced on the horizontal
