I guess you love all the "new" products from Mac Dev, the cyborg operates similar to any other impulse/timmy. While we talk about timmys, what about all the "new" ones? They are just like the old.

What about the freestyle? It uses a spool valve system, just like the matrix. What about the bko? Works just like the Bushmaster. Or the "new" dm4, probably the most popular tourney gun right now. It works just like old trixes, but it is consider "new".

Timmies,angels,imps,b2ks, are all stacked tube electros and work pretty much the same, Basically you are paying for quality of componets, fit and finish, peripherals, and board limitations, and hype


Novas, trixes dm4s, and freestyles being a spool valve design are "brothers" in function.


The sp rep could have easily said the Nerve was similiar to an angel instead of an impulse, but being a good sp employee he just mentioned it was similiar to an imp instead.

the only one of those that smart parts does well is hype, they cant even seem to make the board ramp right, i mean who wants ramping debounce when you could just get more balls per second and not worry about if your gun bounces well or not, and there at the same level of illigality

Hey I was agreeing with your opinion till you stuck your foot in your mouth and said the freestyle was just a spool valve gun. It is a blow foward design, it uses a sail on it to move it back and forth. The design is like a hybrid MAG, trix design, with hpr and lpr pressures compensating each other to move it back and forth with the help of a solenoid. The bko is also different or was different from the Bushmaster(now it just like the Bushy with a full air driven ram). The dm4 is similar to old trixs but yet again is different because of the way things work and how parts are positioned( i.e battery solenoid and lpr and air flow in the bolt.)

Also if a DM4 is the same gun as old trixes why has it taken so long to get a bolt kit to market that works?

lol yeah thats true.. I dont see anything special about the Nerve personally. I owned both a b2k and an imp which are close competitors at around the same price range. While the imp worked fine for me, the build quality on the b2k was a lot better imho..

and the freestly IS a blow forward, not a spool valve dont care what you say i was told it was basically a mag whose bolt is returned by air by nicad himself, and as we all know nicad is god, and thus infallible
they make overpriced crap then charge you for upgrades to fix it later, look at the dynasty shocker, 1100 for something that still needs the HE bolt to be eficient

Evan, you do realize that almost all gun companies have high end models that are basically milled guns that cost more. It is the same with EVERYTHING. Car companies sell more expensive models that work the EXACT same as the lower end model, but includes those nice leather seats, and heated seats. You could buy a nice dye matrix and get dm4 preformance, you could get a 2k2 timmy and get alias preformance, You could buy a stock impulse with vision and get strange impulse preformance.

If you read my earlier post i said almost every high end gun was overpriced which i mean it and pretty much everything in paingball was overpriced but since these people are almost in tears about it i wanted to make that analogy compared to those two guns. Yes i do realize that. I was just saying for the extra 100 you get a ramping board compared to the dynasty shocker but you don't see people complaining about that price around here.

First off- The eyes in vision shockers aren't crap i don't know why the hell everyone likes to diss them in this thread. Did you see a chop when that guy was ripping in the video with a halo? Thought so. Most people with shockers who chop either have a. Crap paint. b. don't have the best dwell settings. The shocker eyes rock and i am tired of people in this thread complaining about it.

PS- Just because i have a shocker doesn't mean i am biased. I don't like what smart parts is doing but i don't let that get in my way when i pick a gun to buy/use.

The board seemed to work fine also in the movie, yet another thing people tend to diss about.

Doesn't look like crap? It looks like a laser gun from a crappy sci-fi movie. If anything it's one of the worst looking markers I've ever seen - I'd much rather have a shoe-box marker than one that looks like it doesn't have a definate shape.

I used to think Vikings looked kinda plain and ugly until I saw a couple of AO'ers posting pics of their Vikings. Wow those were some of the finest guns Ive ever seen! Those vikings were so solid I almost got a second job so I can pick one up without fear of having to sleep on the couch for the next 3 months!

I think he did chop, that's why they stopped halfway through the first time then continued it. My views on the vision system has come from dealing with them for the past year and a half that I've worked at the shop. Vision and reflective eye systems are not as good as break beam. In my own personal experience, I've played with a shocker that had just returned from Smart Parts, totally redone, teched and tuned for a guy who plays for Missouri Magic (he told me they were big out east) , borrowed his shocker to give it a whirl. Worr Perfection Paint....my favorite, V35 halo, settings done by SP. first 5 shots, 1 chop, next 4 games, many chops. So i went to a Zboarded egg and less brittle paint. Same issue. Grab the dm4, it doesnt chop, switch to the fly , nothing. My friend was using paint out of the same bag, v35 halo. Nada, no chops. A couple weeks later I borrow a shocker because I'm letting a customer play with the DM4 to test it before he buys one. Z-boarded evoII, Worr Domination , chop city, this one may have been messed up because damned if i know how it was set up.

Yes it functions the same way as an Imp, so does most every open bolt electropneumatic marker out there (as stated by many people before me).

However, I have been around Imps since they were released, and I have yet to see a single one break 20bps (in person, or on video); even 17-18 bps is rare indeed.

If you bought an Imp with all those features, you'd have shelled out upwards of $875 for it.

Now, the Nerve is much lighter, quite a bit faster, and a fair bit smaller than even the most "wizz bang" Imps out there.

I'd like to see some of the guys that were dumping on it make an Imp shoot that fast (cheating or not), magically weigh 2.5 lbs less, reduce the overall profile that much (again magically), and come anywhere near doing it for $325 (the difference in cost between the two).

Here's what you are paying more for - the money spent on redesigning the body, the internals, and the controls (board, solenoid, etc.) to allow their (SP's) basic valve striker design to break their current bps plateau, and to do it in a smaller and lighter weight package.

Simple as that.

That all said, I'll not be buying one for my own use.
You'd also note (if you could take stock of my arsenal) that I don't own any Vikings, DMwhatevers, Alias (or any other) Timmies, Wizz Bang Angels, or E/XMags. I simply cannot see any significant performance increases that would warrant spending ~$1200 on a paintball marker (whoever makes it), but that's just me. (I've got a Nerve on order for a customer though, so I'll get to fondle it (get your mind out of the gutter ) before he takes it away. )

Not that I like SP, or any of it's products... but I have a hard time believing that the vision shocker that was mentioned above that was chopping so many balls if it was actually functioning correctly (which it more than likely wasnt, because it isn't in SP guns natures to function properly)... Anyhow, i say this because both non vision shockers #11 and #12 that I got out of the first batch never chopped a ball out of the 5-10 hoppers we put through them.

Oh yeah, that was AFTER we had to fix both of them ourselves because they both didnt work straight out of the box Farkin' smart parts... grrrr

hmm its fast but so is are angels and DM4s and those two look better.and from what you said tony these are all essetially the same as they'e Lower class/older versions so it really makes no sence for people to drop 1200 on any gun. I guess an Ir3 would be the way to go if one wanted a new gun. Anyway i guess its a good gun just as long as its reliable the look really isnt for me but i could see how sombody else would like it.

I dont like SP but im not going to base my opinion of this gun on that im sure its a good gun.
also my friend has an imp with vision and it doesnt chop much at all but im sure break beam is a little better. All in all this isnt going to make me up and sell my mag but i do think its an ok gun. Well thats just the opinion of a random white dude named bob. peace

Fraggie- They chopped. Simple as that, functionwise they worked like a paintball gun shot nice, no kick reminded me of a matrix, just imbued with the evil that is the essence of the Garner Brothers and you know......Satan.. Except they chopped. Some kid at the field said it was the shell color of the paint I was using, metalic orange. I tend to believe that if an eye system can be fouled by something so trivial as what color paint I shoot then it's not such a good system. Same as HALO's it pisses me off that a black shell will cause them so much problems, the evolution eye system doesnt have this problem and so I've taken to using an Evo 2 with Z board as of late, if it wasn't for the fun to be had with the v35 ( Victory) board for the Halo I'd never use it, and Rip Drive, it's saved my *** I do owe it some respect.

To Me, if a gun has eyes it shouldn't chop, one or two is acceptable from time to time but more than that is a failure, if my DM4 started chopping up paintballs it would be in my bag, probably sold soon, which I'm selling it anyways due to the fact I want a Joy Division Fly. Guns that cost more than 600 bucks should not chop. We pay for eyes, they should work. The loaders are fast enough, pressures are low enough, and there is no excuse beside mechanical failure . To me reflective eyes be it vision, eblade eye, or that crap they put on the Dragun guns, just doesn't cut it,
