Girl dies from less than lethal weapon.

As some of you may have heard, a girl in Boston, MA died from injuries sistained from a less than lethal device following the Game 7 Win of Red Sox over the Yankees.

    From the Boston Herald
Mayor Tom Menino told WBZ-AM that Snelgrove was hit in the head by a ``non-lethal weapon,'' but he did not elaborate. A spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney's office would not confirm media reports that she was shot in the head with a beanbag gun used for crowd control.
In a Breaking news segment a few mins ago, the District attorney's said the girl was hit by a less than lethal bullet, similar to a paintball style, designed to break on impact.

no, they're called less THAN lethal, which means they are designed to cause injury and pain but not kill. honestly though, if you can drown in about and inch and a half of water or whatever it is, then you have to accept the fact that someone will die at some point from a crowd control weapon.

If you look at the news footage of the riot police, some of them were carrying what looked like FN303's... I'm not saying that's what this rubber bullet was fired from or anything though.

Even bean bag rounds that are considered less than lethal have to be aimed away from the head. A head hit can be lethal.

No, they are called less lethal. Whoever calls them less than lethal is setting themselves up for a world of legal hurt, which is why the name "non lethal" got deep-sixed. It is widely known that the less lethal rounds are perfectly capable of killing someone, which is why they have rules regarding minimum range and such.

Yeah, the tippmans are used for pepperballs. You can find them in prisons also. Pretty cool.

The media is hardly the pinnacle of truth. How many times have we all seen incorrect statements about paintball? They are meant to be non-lethal, but they are really less-lethal. And its not an argument, its a discussion.

In case there is any doubt about what they are named:

None of this would really matter if damn IDIOTS wouldn't riot when THEIR team won.

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

It's a shame that she died and it's a shame that a less-Letal weapon caused it, but she was involved in a "riot" and the police used the force they felt necessary. Having been caught in a few riots before I can tell you, if the police are uaing any kind of force and you get it, you more than likely deserve it. I know both the times I was caught in the middle of a riot, I got my arse out of there. I didn't hang around and think it was cool. Most of the people will claim, "but I wasn't doing anything." In my experiance, this is not true. If you were not doing anything, get the hell out. Again, that is not to blame this young lady for her own death, but I also do not blame the cops. This my friend is why riots are not good.

                              Read the article

first place a 37 mm less lethal device was used. it fires a 2inx2in lead filed bean bag. a FN303 fires only paintball projectiles .68 cal with a bismuth front payload and a stabilizing fin. the less lethal weapon used was similar to this http://www.37mm.com/launchers/defensetech.asp
this weapon can kill someone the FN303's chance of killing someone is the same odds as you being struck by lighting on a sunny day.Stopping reading to far into things. all weapons of this type are called less lethal. Pepper spray, tazers, cs, and cn are consider less than leathal
