Barrel kits...

I run a J&J edge kit on my sterling, so my results will be different. My backs are 8" in length to get ahead of the pump handle.
I like it a lot, though I cannot compare it to anything similiar because there is very few barrels that are sterling threaded.
For my angel I am going to be shooting a Lucky15 kit, many of those at my field use them and have good results with them. Even travelling and shooting different paint.
After seeing two barrels snap between the barrel and the tip in the last two weeks, I am a little gun-shy about 2 piece barrels.Comment

the way i see it, the only way to counter this problem would be to put a detent in the barrel, or somewhere after the bolt has closed. this, i assume, would cause problems with maintaining a good seal (and therefor good pressure) behind the ball during firing tho, so i'm not sure if anybody can actually design a marker like that.Originally posted by MiscueNo kidding... but that's not because it is a closed bolt, but because of a peculiarity of the marker.
what other markers are closed bolt? the Excalibur? i don't know how the detents are setup with those... did they have the same problem?
what my point is, IMO, the problem of the ball rolling down the barrel while not firing is indeed a common problem of closed bolts...
EDIT: looks like i'm wrong, excaliburs do have 4 detents hehhehLast edited by Jotsy; 06-01-2005, 03:16 PM.

Otp
I read most of the replys and cant believe no ones suggesting an OTP G3. These things are like 170 bucks or so and Id have to say my favorite barrel kit. Ive used most of the others but not all of em so there may be some that are better. But a G3 kit is a fantastic choice for a closed bolt gun. They are pretty hard to come by and I dont know of any websites that still sell them. I got mine like 4 years ago and it was really hard to find then.Comment

Jotsy explained it pretty well. Excals are probably an exception, due to the quad detents.Originally posted by MiscueNo kidding... but that's not because it is a closed bolt, but because of a peculiarity of the marker.
CCM cockers also have wire detents, so it isn't a problem in them.Comment

How do the Evil pipe kits work? I hear they are loud. What about accuracy?Comment
-
they are quiet for you but loud for whatever you are shooting at because of the angle of the ports. They are great but the tips are a little weak. Evil fixed this with the new style pipe tips.Originally posted by MonsterMagHow do the Evil pipe kits work? I hear they are loud. What about accuracy?Comment

Well cant believe i dont know this but is a mag open or closed bolt?
I believe open. Please correct me if i am wrong.
And can somone plz explain the difference in open and closed bolt fireing systems?Comment

A mag is a closed bolt , If you can see the bolt from the outside of the marker , the markers is a open bolt. Mag bolts are not visable therefore it is a closed boltComment

No, mag's are open bolt. Your definition of open / closed bolt is completely off. Look down the feedneck of a marker when it's air up. If you see the bolt blocking the feedneck (such as an Autococker, Excal, etc) then it's closed bolt. If you see the bottom of the breech, it's open bolt.Originally posted by MonsterMagA mag is a closed bolt , If you can see the bolt from the outside of the marker , the markers is a open bolt. Open / Closed bolt refers to the position of the bolt at rest, it has nothing to do with whether you can see the bolt on the outside of the gun or not. That would be enclosed bolt.

the lucky 13 is nice, it has all the barrels you'll ever need to use. I had a matchstik kit, it was amazing best kit ever. I also have a pipe kit which is good and has more bores, seems to be a little louder and isnt as accurate.E-mail:[email protected]
