Stubborn Parents & Paintball

Guess what!?!?
I'm trying for it again! Now that I have my paintball gun I want to buy a good one! I'm trying to get my parents to let me buy a paintball gun.... any more tips?

I had the same problem. Im sure you've heard arguments that you already have one, and you dont need a second. Of course parents who dont play or show no interest in their child's hobbies would have any concept of quality. You're probably still hearing how dangerous paintball is, and how expensive it is, and most likely how you should be concentrating on school.

What do you're parents do for a living?
How educated are they (what years did they stop going to school)?
What is your GPA and year in school?
Have you gotten into any trouble in the last year concerning school, extra ciricular activities, friends, girls, or anything that your parents would dissaprove of?

1. My parents are retired.
2. My dad got bachelors and I don't know about my mom. I think the same
3.GPA: around 3.5 9th grade

Well, what did they do? It helps if you can approach this from an angle they can understand, and not your own. Kids and adults see a lot differently in many areas, so it helps to see it from their side.

My mom didn't work. My dad was an engineer for the city water department.

Foo...do they know about your first gun?? and also try and get a spyder out of them or something...its cheaper and its a start. Once you have the first gun they dont care about the cost of the rest, but a mag as a first gun, i could see them disapproving of..

ok, cool. That helps, so you can appraoch this from a very scientific way. Use a presentation with data and facts. Dont make outrageous claims. Use expert opinions and the like.

ok foo,you just have to get them to understand that paintball is a sport and not war,buy a PUSH,or Truamahead video,and let them watch it,i love those videos,and so does my dad.My dad is 52 and drinks beer.I dont have same problem w/ paintball guns,but paintballs.He wants BE because they are cheaper,amd i tell him you get what you pay for,and then ill in "you dont buy non-alkoholic(sp) beer because its cheaper."That pisses him off,but I get my RP Sherer.You should make charts.Visual differesation between paintball,and all other bad stereotypes it has.And throw in that article by that insurance company awhile ago that said paintball was in fact safer than bowling and golf.
My dad bought my first gun,and after that its up to me if i want something for my gun or if i want new one or what ever.
You should also take them out to play,maybe a scenerio or something,so they under stand the concept that paintball doesnt equal war or vandalism,but paintball can be expensive,so i just play about once every 2 weeks.I really hope this helped you out.Good Luck Foo!

If your dad wasn't so old, I'd take him to the field. I took my dad to Country Club paintball where all the big mucho men were seeing how fast they could shoot their Angels. My dad asked me before a game what all those fast shiney guns were, and I told him Angels. He later agreed to get me a gun faster than my Spyder, so I got an Automag. Now when I get home from the fields my dad always asks me how many Angel users I shot.

Yeah, get your dad into it, that's what I did. With my first gun, he was the only reason I got one, I later found out my mother was stongle against it. Then I sold him that gun later on, after I got my Mag, but he really only played once because my macro broke that day and he handed me his. Even still, he is supportive and thinks its cool that I buy all this neat stuff. I'm trying to get him and his buddies to play a day of PB
