Why? There are plenty of used ones for sale, and they aren't exactly selling well. -

And I would clarify that AGD was not being sued from what I understand.

They did get a generic cease and desist letter. Like everyone did. It never came to a formal action.Want some Candy little Girl?

wasnt that the reason production sucked? because the bodies were made in Europe and AGD didnt own the patent for the body design???
They made a lot of it. the Valves and all the innerds. They did not make the body or battery shroud. AGDE did those parts. But they made or supplied more parts than not.
The tolerances were difficult to keep within. This is extremely critical in the Mags design and still so with the Emag set up as it fires Mechanicaly as well. The relationships are all critical to the timing of the marker and have to be within a set variance. Not impossible to achieve but nessicary. Sometimes the threading was off in the barrel seats by a turn or so making the barrels not fully seat. The issues also came around with different Annodizers as each one was practicaly custom ordered. This was difficult to keep up with for a small company. And so each mistake was magnified and costly.Want some Candy little Girl?

The real reason (in addition to some of the good ones already posted)? Profit vs. Headaches.
For the same effort put into an Xmag for a slim profit margin, AGD could sell dozens of other much higher margin markers.
Then once AGDE wanted to move on, AGD didn't want to pay AGDE royalties and pick up production of the body.
I guess there are issues with who holds the patenet rights on the one piece body design (PTP?), the modular breach (AGDE), and the Xmag milling (AGDE/Manike).
Seeing as so few people make much out of custom bodies milled from slugs, it's hardly any wonder that something as involved as the mag wasn't terribly profitable.Comment

Well Isn't the "dust" settled now? SP lost that lawsuit AND lost the counter suit so it is safe to start up the R and D engine again? no?Originally posted by Lohman446Tom said on these boards he was contacted, it was not a cease and desist order and was a "friendly" conversation. That being said there was a long list of reasons of the discontinuation of the X-mag and that he was not willing put the cost of R&D into a new e-marker given the current legal, political, hype driven state of the volatile paintball markert.Comment

Remember though AGD had a problem in todays market before there was a legal issue. I haven't kept really close attention to the various lawsuits but there was more to it than just that.Originally posted by TaoWell Isn't the "dust" settled now?
