    Best Sniper set up....

Hi I play a lot of rec-ball and I was wondering just what you guys consider the best sniper set up and or tactics. I wear a ghillie suit, use binoculars and always keep moving. I also was wondering what you guys think about the Armson Stealth barrel...

Not to flame or anything but i don't think its possible to snipe in Paintball.

The markers just aren't accurate enough or shoot far enough to "snipe".

as for the Armson Stealth barrel, i don't really know anything about it but if its supposed to make you shoot farther or something, don't believe it.

        what I mean...

What i meant by snipe is basically shoot fairly accurate... I didn't mean like 50 yard shots to the goggle. and I just was wondering if you liked the armson cause my friends is a wierd caliber. How I "snipe" is I just basically wait for a guy to come close enough for one shot to break... well just thought I'd clear that up..

well, considering all paintball markers shoot the same distance. And that acuaracy only depends on bore match. I would go for any of them. Just get a adjustable bore barrel and some good paint. Also if u like to "snipe" u should consider teh quietist gun u can get.

            Yeah

Yeah I agree.... Although w/ paintball guns you have to be close enough to hit the person and that range is usually easy to hear your gun at. The main time I find a quite gun to be nice is when there is already people fighting and you just sneak in and pick them off. That way its not a reconizable as a single shot out of nowhere.
but thanks for the input all of you

you want a 20" DYE Boomstick, a really expensive scope, and a really accurate gun like a pump or other closed bolt gun...

oh and don't forget camo goggles...

to be the quitest you got to have a barrel with lots of porting and is long so there are even more porting. maybe an all american or the armson stealth. anything more than 16" is just overkill IMO. a stock would help so you can rest the weight on yout shoulder, and try to have your gun as dark as it can get with no shines. a site would help, and maybe so you don't have to angle your marker to get the range, get the z-body (flatline). i know it doesn't give any more range that a regular, but the paintball does fly in a straight line and you don't have to lob your balls.

                  Yeah

yeah I got my gun covered in ghillie for the camo factor. Also I use a remote because its easier to move around while crawling. I find myself as more of a support gunner than a sniper... or recon.

the best barrel i find for sniping when i play backyard ball with friends is the J&J ceramic. VERY acurate with alot of paints (i know the barrel match thing don't flame) and its also very quiete. quieter then my friends boomstick. actually im making my gihillie suit right now to play some woods tommorow.

I normally play speedball but i just built a new woods field out on my land i have and really want the advantage : ) MUHAHA.

                      anyways good luck on choices.

I have an ACI Maveric that has a Pronghorn TASCO scope, a professionally made Willy Pete Barrel *cough* silencer *cough* extension. It's really quiet, but the gun is hard on paint, but usually really accurate with almost any kind.

It's quite possible to snipe in paintball. Real snipers work in pairs, and the actual point of sniping is to get as close as you can, without being detected, and hit someone with as few shots as possible. It's about movement that the enemy can't see.
You all seem to think being a sniper is where you sit all the way at the opposite end of the field, and try to long ball people. Movement is quite crucial, and there is lots of it.

There is a team called Welter Skelter in Florida, and they can snipe. Those guys will dissapear into the woods, and you won't see them, not even after they shoot you. And yes, they can hit you in the goggle every time, with one shot. One of the guys uses a fairly old mag as a back up. They mostly use old Sheridan guns, and PMI 1's. When paired up against 20, 30 other people, they can get about 15-18 eliminations a game.

Sounds like TITAN has been shot one time too many by a sniper.

Come to the Bark Side LUKE...

You know, Paintball existed for many years before speedball. LOL... If you haven't ever been shot by a sniper, you need to play a little deeper in the woods.

Now certainly, PB is limited by the laws of physics, and the same paint/same barrel/same velocity will give similar results regardless of the gun, but Sniperism is more of an attitude/style. It is also seasonal too. If there is no undergrowth in the woods, like in the winter, it is a little hard to hide.

Here is how we use them. We push one of our main groups up the field on one side or the other about a third of the way in. We are noisy, shooting every direction, calling out positions, etc. While this is going on, our sniper and his coverman quietly creep up the tape line and find a nice thicket of cover as far up as they can, moving quietly never firing a shot. After they get settled in, we draw attention and fall more towards the center. As we do this, the other team will typically try to flank us by rushing up the tape line. When they do, guess who they suddenly discover???

Oh, by the way, I know they say that anything over 6-8 inches is waste, but I love my 16 inch stealth barrel. It is quiet, and accurate at my local field...
