Ok, so that has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long, long time. LoL...very good information BTW. My best friend has a DM4 and I thought I knew almost everything until now.

to put all the myths away etc, here is my opinion with backing info on which to get. (Note:i am sponsored by DYE, so i know what im talking about, and my roommate is also a DYE tech)

        recocking pressure:
DM6 is slightly lower than a PM6. this translates to less precieved recoil, and has nothing to do with air efficency

operating pressure(from HPR):supposedly the PM6 is slightly higher than a DM6, however this varies from gun to gun. with that: higher OP is related to more efficiency (think about what the tophat mod for matrixes does)

        size/weight:
PM6 is lighter/smaller than a DM6. Add a UL frame and it is even lighter

        Bolt:
The bolt on both the DM6 and PM6 is nearly identical. the DM6 bolt ends up being longer, which actually makes the gun longer

        Solenoid:
DM6 and Pm6 share the same solenoid, so nothing to argue about there.

I think that is all the real technical differences, and now my opinion:

PM6 is by far a better buy than a DM6.
It is smaller, lighter, ends up being more efficient.

The only real downside it has is the lack of the self cleaning eyes(which alot of people have had problems with)

As for the cocking pressure: lift some weights, the recoil on a PM6 is next to nothing, and the difference is hardly noticible with a DM6

Also, one thing that i have noticed about the PM6 that is a major selling point to me is where the hopper is in relationship to the rest of the marker. on a PM6, the hopper sits right above the trigger, whereas with the DM6 the hopper is above the HPR. The PM6 ends up being more balanced, and with the hopper farther back, it is less likely to get hit.

        Hope this helps.

for the record, please do not ever try to discredit me or my information. I am the captain of a dye sponsored team.. maybe you have heard of it its team matrixowner.com

dm6 is shorter in height= lower hopper.

not to mention that my dm6 ballences perfectly.

Also, the firing pressure(in the dump chamber) is lower on the dm6, not the recocking pressure. A it doesnt recock, and B if you knew your dm line of markers, you would know that the bolt is controled by the solenoid, which uses the air from the lpr. So, bolt pressure is the same between the two, given proper tuning.

not to mention i have had multiple dye, and matrixowner.com tech sessions, and am great friends with some of the most influential, and performance driven people in the matrix world. Specifically Macky, Hawk, and buckeye.

the dm6 is the flagship marker. there is a reason for that.

Flawez, i do agree... deffinitely a funny movie, its in my top 10.

EDIT: the pm6 stock, is not lighter than the dm6, and only becomes one 0z lighter once the UL frame is added.

This is probably not your typical matrix question. I've been looking at them because I want to build a lightweight and quiet marker for a sniper. So bps is not important. If money didn't matter at all, I'd probably get the olive DM6 and use a Stiffi barrel, 40-round hopper and a 22/3000 tank.

Do I need to spend that much? Since bps isn't important, would the PM6 work fine for this project? Or could I get the same results and save cash with a DM4, DM5, etc?

Also, are the barrels AC threaded? I have the Stiffi barrel, 40-round hopper and a 22/3000 tank already, I just need the marker.

          Thanks.

why not use an old lcd trix if speed is not important?

yes the barrels are ac threaded.

hey magman007, i was wondering what your thoughts on the DM3 are? would it be worth it or a good idea for someone just starting out? do they have eyes? are spare parts still availiable? how about upgrade boards?

i brought a friend of mine to a game last weekend and now he's hooked and looking for a marker to call his own. but of course, he's on a budget. so i'm looking around for him and i don't really know much about matrixes.

Personally, im going to be getting a PM5. Im getting it over a DM4 and DM5 also.

So how much does it weigh? (wo/barrel)

                        Personally...
                        PM5 > DM4/DM5/DMC
                        DM6 > PM6

After holding a UL framed Proto... It is the only way I would ever shoot a trix, therefore I think the DM6 is simply a better choice. You can UL the PM6 but with the added cost you would have been better off buying a DM6.

I saw some LCD DM3's that were in my budget. Are they pretty quiet? Could you compare the noise level to other markers? What's their operating pressure?

                            Thanks

They are Very quiet. The operating pressure on mine is like 170psi.

BTW.. im selling it so i can get a PM5 with a UL frame.

Who fully holds the grip frame when they shoot?

When shooting I couldn't care less about the UL , if it didn't match my fade I would have sold it months ago for what crazy people are paying for such a minor change in a grip frame. In fact I would have sold them both and bought another PM5.
