Haha good post . Yeah he should be fine. His parents are overreacting and such but that's what they are for. Get a neck protector or a turtle neck shirt, just as good, if you don't want to get hit there next time.

Well i didnt get hit but my cousin did.Had a couple of friends also and nothing happened to them but my aunt is like over protective with my cousin.I talked to him and he said its nothing really but my aunt is just freaking out and so is my mom.I dont really care becasue ive been shot in my nuts twice and that hurts so bad.Thanks for the post everyone.

neck shots always worried me...though i have never been shot in the neck...i took a nice one to the forhead....golf ball sized not on my forhead for a week or so.....maybe i will get a neck protector as a prevenative measure....LOL....i don't care what i look like on the field...its not a fashion show...

I stood right next to a guy who got shot point blank in the neck near his trachea (sp?) off the break by his own teammate. He was a grown man, but his reaction made me want to drop and cry for him. All he could say is that it hurt like he!!. He bled a little because the ball broke the skin, but no more than a small scratch. I saw him at the start of the next game when he came back with a bandaid, an ice pack, and the field owner. The owner wanted to know who did it and luckily the guy saw who did it. The kid that did it started whining and complaining that it wasn't him and that he shouldn't have been standing there when his gun when off! The kid was a regular and the owner knew him, but that still didn't stop him from kicking the kid out for the rest of the day. I was most impressed with the owner for doing that and for helping out that poor guy that got shot in the neck.

Man, that sure looked like it hurt, but he survived. I could probably say that I have been hit worse in the neck from a fore arm in basketball (it was like a Karate chop to the neck), I couldn't breath for what seemed like a few minutes and I thought I swallowed my Adam's Apple Well, that is what over reacting can do and as soon as I could catch my breath again, I was right back in there playing. I would tell him to sack-up and to get over it.

You can always go for a plastic, steel or leather gorget like they use in SCA heavy/rapier.

most neck protectors are just a layer of neoprene. Pretty much all the same, the only real differences are the logos on them.

Neck shots hurt quite a bit, but as long as you can breathe afterwards and don't have any pain or lack of movement that can't be explained by the inevitable bruise you should be fine.

in a pinch, even a bandana wrapped around your neck will help.

Well my aunt told me that he has a bad bruise and it like a ball.Havent really seen it but i'll tell him to take some pics of it so i can post it.His parents are feaking out really bad and saying he is never going to play again and that the child protection srevice is going to come and stuff.There being dumb to me but I really cant say that to my aunt and uncle.

how do you freaks even stick out enough to get shot in the neck? I hardly ever turn my head to an opponent and I def dont just hold my neck out for ppl to shoot. Sure, ive had a guy get shot there on my team, but for the life of us, we still cant figure out how he got shot there... This is like getting shot in the crotch, if you see paint coming at your crotch, do you just thrust it forward and take it? Only shots i take are gun shots, arm shots and chest shots. They feel kinda nice tho...its like a deep tissue massage at 280 fps

Very true I find if an area of my skin is exposed and I get whacked its gonna bleed and it just makes it look worse. Then again you could lie to your parents and say you got in a fight with a vacuum cleaner or Paris Hilton plays paintball now.

I can see your point if your are playing speedball but perhaps they were playing woodsball, alot easier to loose track of someone and get smoked from the side. Just a thought.
