Intent is the key. I'm pretty solid in thinking that while not everyone out there wipes, I can almost guarantee that everyone has played on after a hit. Couple weekends ago, I took one in the arm. Checked the spot I was hit on, and saw nothing. Not a surprise, there had been a lot of bounces that day. After the game, I realized that there was indeed a hit there, my sleeve had rotated to the point where I couldn't see it. Such things happen, and when there are consequences, I'm grown-up enough to accept them, and admit what happened.
I shall now have to correct you. I believe we met once upon a time at Dedicated in Madison. In 15 years in the game, I have never wiped a hit. Not even once. The opportunity has presented itself plenty, but for whatever reason, I'm hardwired to follow the rules.
One tournament comes to mind right off the top of my head - took a hit in my foot that nobody else saw. Ref even checked me and called me clean. I stood up and walked off, pointing at my foot. Then the guy who had hit me went nasty quickly, and bonus balled me as I left the field.
