I've shot the ion, and own a DM4. If i had to choose i would take the DM3, since i have more confidence in an high quality outdated gun than shooting something that feels like it will break during a game. The ion is a nice gun for the money tho, but you get what you payed for.

          DM3 all the way.
That has style now. I almost bought one for myself two days ago, but it sold before I could get the $$$ .

But ions are really awsome with a few hundred worth of upgrades... so just get the DM3.

What other gun tells you the temp!? DM3! DM3! you know you want it!

          My $0.02.

But back to the post at hand... The DM3 is a great gun. The main thing to consider about it is how available parts and service is in your area. If you are good at teching your own equipment thats fantastic, go buy a big o-ring kit and you'll be good for years. If you have trouble with the tech side of things though the Ion is very well supported in almost all areas. Parts and the people to work on them are plentiful. Just something to think about. Whatever you choose you'll probibly enjoy either one. They are both great in their own way.

For those of you out there. He already has a DM3 and his friend thinks his Ion is better. Both are near stock.

                  DM3:
                  Good Looks
                  Super Smooth
                  Great Eyes
                  Small(ish)
                  Very Fast
                  Light
                  AC Threaded

                  Ion:
                  Mostly recyclable
                  Capped at 17
                  OK stock parts
                  Made by SP
                  Decent Eyes
                  Small
                  Light
                  Ugly

honestly, i would rather shoot an ion than a DM3. The ion is NOT a bad perfomring marker, the DM3, arguably, shoots a bit nicer, but, in todays super fast pased X ball format play, id rather shoot the ion. The ion is light, shoots 15 (faster, i know, but, 15 is what is allowed), dosent have much kick at all, nice and small. I would probably put a new feedneck, barrel, and asa on the ion, but, other than that, ready to roll.

I had to purchase a semi-budget marker for one of my teammates. He had $200 and anything that went over that was coming out of my pocket. When given the choices of looking around on the forums for a used DM3 / Timmy / Angel or buying an Ion I bought him an Ion and for that $200 (with very little out of my pocket) was able to get a great trigger and a good feedneck for it. It comes with a capable board, and is a capable little marker. Is it as nice as, say the PM5 I shot last year or the Minion I shoot this year? No... but I lost more than he paid for the Ion on my PM5... and I question if my Minion is $600 (or whatever it cost) nicer.

go with the ion, I think its fairly simple to clean do to there not being a tray!! but this is coming from a guy who cant seem to take apart a gun with a tray without pinching one of the wires...

with the tboard you can get speeds close to maxing out a stock halo if not making it out
and with a feednack barrel and a trigger you got yourself a nice little package.
I recommend the sythe trigger, I love mine

I can't stand the feel of ions, i need a gun in my hands that I don't think will fall apart. A trix is gonna shoot just as fast as an ion, same amount of kick, but will shoot a tad nicer and be more reliable, from what I've experienced. Ions are decent little guns, I just prefer a decent trix over them.

did you really buy one of the sythe triggers? I saw that Bryan had one on his predator dm5 2 weeks ago...

back to the point, thats the one thing iver heard about nerves is that theres just nothing to them as far as "feeling the shot go" but if you didnt shoot cockers like me im sure you wouldnt mined that as much

I bought Matt one... Ill just stick to letting the M6 board overcome my inability to shoot fast.
