not really. I think the main problem was the cost to the barrel companies to make them.

I like them because the are quick to remove/put on.

While they were fast.. who really needs the speed. Maybe it was just me. But the big thing was nubbins. They broke. Alot. When I owned twist locks they broke all the time. I'd say one a case maybe case and 1/2. Also if you didn't have nubbins you were screwed. Your mag would double feed and chop, like a blender. That and the combination of companies making them slower, and more costly brought it down.

I love my twist lock but the only thing i don't like is with a warpfeed or any force fed hopper when you take off the barrel the balls shoot out.

I have plastic nubbins in mine and i've shot 4 cases through my gun with one nubbin and it seems to be fine but i should prolly change it.

??I dont know what you were doing to your nubbins but they should have been breaking that much. Hell I went full seasons(years) before I changed a set. And that was playing damn near every other weekend.

I haven't changed any of my nubbins in ... years.

The thing I didn't like about twist lock was that when you used the barrel to push against something, the balls would get stuck in the gun. Whenever I used a long barrel to push a sup air bunker (or rested it hard on a chrono) my level 10 would start chuffing because the balls were getting stuck. I tried bigger o-rings and things and it didn't really help much.

I've learned to live with it (I'm still using a twist lock rail/body) but that was the biggest thing for me.

When I had a 'Mag, I did not like using the Twist-Lock during games. If you removed the barrel, it was quite difficult to get it back in without crushing a ball. You would have to hold the barrel angled up and such.

They are nice, but they never allowed gun bodies to be as skinny as possible. Plus the reason AGD changed was Because at the time that was like 70% of the barrel market. A mag that can accept more barrels is more desirable.

                      well,
back in the day before any kind of antichop was available, twist lock was nice. if you broke a ball, you could hunker down for a sec, shut the powerfeed, clear the barrel and run a jerk thru it and have it back on real fast in the middle of a game and no one would ever know. and youd be shootin straight again. no walking off to clean the gun, or getting bunkered. with practice you could do it faster than dumping a pod into your loader.
the whole design of the mag was originally minimal tools, minimal downtime and maximum durability/craftsmenship for *gasp* 1000+ round tournament games.

Really anytime you take the barrel out with a hopper on. Only thing I don't like about it. I don't think I will ever go ULE because of that one issue. Plus the Crownpoint is a kickawesome barrel for big cheap paint.

                          ball detents

the only twist lock problem I have is when you have a stock minimag and you take the barell off and a hopper full of paintballs come out. that sucks. so the thing is good, exept for the fact that the detents are in the barell, it sounds like a good idea but can be troublesome. kind of like communism.

the added cost and rarity of barrels/choices was a problem

also since mags dont chop, why would you need to remove the abrrel quickly.

it really was innovative and i wish it wouldve stayed/caught on, the nubbins were a tad late too

I liked them, but again, the nubins.....
if there was a way to get good detents with a good twist lock system, hmm...... probably can't be done
