I'd give them more credit than that, that was a really, really, bad commercial.

It was clearly not representing actual paintball play, but a stylized mini cartoon adventure to promote SP.
It does not bother me in the least that this is smart parts, I actually think some of there other ads are good designs. But this is horrible, you can find better animations on you tube. Look at the movment of the characters, how they run, how they hold their guns, etc. Sure there are lots of crappy ads out there, just because theres more like this doesnt make this one good. I just thought SP had a higher standard.

            edit: this IS on youtube

Pardon me Shartley, but I was looking at it from a marketing perspective having grown up in the home of two marketing/advertising agency people. It lacks just about everything an advertisement is supposed to have. Those e-surance commercials are quite bad too, but they actually tell you the name and qualities of the company and product while they are carrying on with their cheezy animation. And they repeat the name of the company multiple times. The SP ad didn't even accomplish this. BTW, don't anyone get snaked in by E-surance. They're the worst insurance company you could possibly go with. You will get screwed.

My wife's car got hit by another driver that had esurance. Very painful company to deal with to get our claim and rental cars costs settled. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a customer of theirs.

but the SP logo is all over the ad.

Seems to me to be less of a specific product ad then trying to re-inforce the SP branding (then again I just watched it at work with no speakers)

                      Yup see what I mean?

craltal, what about those who don't know SP? Besides, even for those who do know SP, it's not portraying them in any sort of light. Is their product good, is it bad? They aren't answering that question. They've said nothing about any of their products except that you can use the box to have a ridiculous cartoon adventure. Even at 12 I wouldn't have been attracted to that. It's just stupid.

                        Exactly.

This is about branding, not individual product sales.

But it doesn't even say anything about the company! It fails to give the customer a reason to purchase products made by that particular brand. All it proves is that the company is able to hire some kid to put together a pretty god-awful computer animation. Why buy their paintball products though? It does not say why.

Agreed. No argument there. But that is the style coming out now.
