    This thread needs the pics.

we must educate the players more and implement greater SAFETY awareness and procedures so as to prevent such an incident from happening again.
ummm no kidding hind sight is 20/20 This is not the ONLY area of Safety Players need educated on.

Some players have taken to the practice of using oil as a stop-gap measure, believing it is a correct way to repair a damaged or worn fill nipple seal. Unfortunately, this can create a hazardous situation. When exposed to compressed air, flammable liquids such as oil become more flammable, and in some cases can ignite just from their own heat. For this reason, compressed air regulators, tanks and fittings for paintball should not be lubricated in any way other than what the manufacturer has specified in their instructions. Max-Flo compressed air systems should only be lubricated with SL33K paintgun lubricant, and only as prescribed in the Max-Flo instruction manual."
Oops but arent they on that ASTM PaintBall SAFETY subcommittee. Put NO oil warning on reg on the standard list. Maybe they could follow that standard and not blow it off like all the other ones.

Maybe they should ask why fill and reg o-rings fail. I had a fill nipple last thru 2 hydros on one of my tanks. It failed after a Slam

So there you go peeps. The message is loud and clear; please be safe when you're filling up and make sure that oil and compressed air systems are never mixed together. Look out for this month's issue of PGi where there will be a full run-down on Paintball safety...
What a load of crap. They say this but Delete a thread on their forum about the whole oil reg tank safety issue incident. Was it cause it was a Stako tank?

    Peace Out

Sorry to revive the thread, but just noticed it was stickied:

Look at that picture. Nothing to do with the tank. The reg has a giant hole blown out of its side for cripes sake!

Also, the neck on a stako tank is aluminum just like all other composite tanks. It's the tank body that's plastic.

well it is kind of hard to say if the tank or the reg failed first since if you look at the tank you can see where it looks like it failed as well.

Read my post again. I asked if the thread was deleted on that other forum because it was a Stako tank. That would be PGI here http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/...splay.php?f=14 They deleted it for some reason. Thats where all the other cool guys hang out and delete important safety threads for no apparent reason.

Put some 3in1 in a Carlton tank and slam it. Where do you think it will fail? I would bet it would fail the same way. Blow the tank reg threads and reg right off or would it? Wonder what reg that is. Not to worry our tanks wont fail the reg will just blow apart. How much psi do you think was generated from the explosion to blow the reg like that. Maybe Stako has a poor reg thread design where it is integrated to the tank.
