Boy did I come into this one late.
My idea is for a mass market lower end beginnner marker. But it looks like it wont be shared by many....
Bring a Tippy/spyder killer to the market... $150 or under.

        Classic style Valve

Question "can it be made to high enough "quality & safety standards" out of a cheaper material? Second is there a cheaper material readily available?

Composite body made from same material as Mag grip frame. (scratches etc wont show up) I hate seeing busted up chipped to death 98's & A5's.

Center feed (Clamping style ,make it part of the body) with AC threads?? Would be easier with classic automag type barrel. (changing threads I think might require an internal sleeve etc)

Change grip frame into a double trigger type frame. Has to be the #1 upgraded item on the automag. Maybe incorperate roller bearings on trigger & sear (daydreaming here)

Kind of generic styling that can make it both woods & speedball friendly. Think Micromag or Tac one styling.

Use Current ball detent used from ULE.

Gas thru /expansion chamber (make it CO2 friendly)

Now for manufacturing being a realist Bodies & frames (any or all parts) can be mass produced in Taiwan China, Korea or where ever can produce acceptable parts for cheap. I really dont care if my automag is 100% USDA prime. If I can snag one new for $149.95 or less. Kingman outsells 90% of the market. Joe Blow doesnt care where its made.

gas-thru rail? like the classic rt with hardline from foregrip.
Sexy mainbody that matchs the dallara in looks

Okay, I finally read the whole thing so now I get to comment.

Why not just bolt-on frames? Switch from pneu to electro to mech as easy as a switch of the gripframe. Only problem with that is that for the electro frame you'd need breakbeam eyes for it to sell to most of the speedball market. A good reflective eye looking in the bottom of the breach (X-Mag style) might do, though. Sticking with AGD valves lets the user take the X-Valve for performance or the A.I.R. valve if HPA isn't an option.

Moving away from the more traditional AGD stuff? I'd like to see an MQ-Mag.

I hope this thread isn't all just pipe dreams.

              Seconded.

Suggestion: Mill spot for eyes in all bodies/rails (one piece would be great). It wouldn't be too much more machining would it? Just make plugs for the mech/pneu crowds.

don't forget todays paintball kiddies want to be told that this is the lastest, greatest, fastest, lightest, most efficient, marker to ever hit the marker yet. oh and upgrades will be ready for it in about a month(but don't tell them outright, just hint!).
but also, you have to think that paintball companies anymore are treating markers alot like cars, new one every year with a "special editions" sometime in between.
That being said, marketing wise all you really need to do is introduce the '08 as a reasonably priced electro, then come out with aftermarket boards etc. Then come out with the "all-new" E-pnue edition halfway thru the year for like $200 more, all the while showcasing smaller add-ons that are going to be put on the "special edition" anyway at a highly inflated price.
                /ok I'm done now
                //wait...now I'm done

FIRST, i'd get rid of that centerfeed thing and stick the feed at a 45 degree angle off on the side.

Then I'd use some kind of straight, hollow tube connected to the feed so I could stack the balls in a stright line; that way they'd feed in without needing one of those expensive electronic hoppers.

Next, I'd get rid of the solenoids, battery pack, electronics board.

I'd get rid of the bolt spring.

I'd hook some kind of linkage to the bolt and attach that to pump that wrapped around the barrel - eliminating the need for batteries, eyes, wiring, etc.

                    That would be pretty cool...
