I'll start out right away by saying I have never been a big fan of any Glock made. To me they are slightly too big, a touch clunky, and have always seemed too spartan for my tastes.
Face it, I like a touch of flash. My Kimber Ultra Carry in .45 is a Kimber
.
My Sig Sauer in .357 is a Sig - and its a .357 SIG. Its "natural" accuracy to me is incredible. Point and shoot.
Even my S+W .38 revolver is stainless and has just a hint of that class.
I never would have considered a Glock. I went to the range just to look a bit. I toyed with a Smith M+P, I toyed some with a Kahr. I looked at a couple H+Ks. I didn't like the Kahr, at all. It seemed a bit heavy in everything, from trigger pull to slide action.
Frankly... I've always thought of myself as "better" than a Glock
My girlfriend decided she wanted to shoot a gun. I decided to leave my Kimber in the car and shoot something more manageable for her. I decided to shoot a Glock, perhaps a full size. They didn't have one but gave me a Glock 26 (the baby Glock in 9MM) to shoot. Not ideal but I decided it would do for the indoor range.
Understand this is a pretty small handgun, a pretty short barrel. She shot her fill of rounds through it (about 10) and I fired the rest out of this little gun. That gives me about 90 shots.
I shot at 7 yards and was rather surprised by the performance of the gun, it did not group like my Kimber does, but the accuracy was functional. So I ran it out to 15 yards with very similiar results. I kicked it out to 25 yards (range max) and fired a couple clips at that range.
In 90 rounds with a mix of ranges (7, 15, 25) with the exception of one flier, with cheap ammo and a rental gun I was not familiar with I did not have any shots outside of the 7 ring. She had wanted silohette targets for fun. I had told her when starting you don't shoot for the head - too small of a target. I put a clip through at 7 yards and another at 15 without putting any shots outside of the 10 ring taking aimed headshots.
The gun was not tremendous. My Kimber would have grouped the shots better, and offers more knock down power.
However, I was impressed. Functional accuracy. The 9MM is enough. I considered the .40 but I already have a .40. I ended up leaving with one. A bit of range time and this may find itself being a normal carry gun. Its tough, not prone to wear, simple to use, and good enough it seems. Night sights and all and this was still under a $500 gun.
Yeh, I left with one

. Serious!? So I went and set up more, and it seemed like I was hitting about a 8inch circle... so whats that... 3.5MOA. It seems insane but in about 1 or 2 shots I can hit that thing.
