Ok, I had a Ruger Number 1 in my hands last weekend that I passed on. Mostly because 416 factory ammo is roughly ten dollars a shot.
I had an A-bolt Browning (with the BOSS Compensator) in 375 H+H in my hands this weekend and passed because I really liked the Ruger Number 1.
Now, I realize that this are way overkill for anything I am going to hunt around here, or likely in North America. I have a 270 that should drop anything that I can get a good shot at.
That being said I want a SERIOUS rifle. So I make the mistake of asking AO.
Just for the record, 50BMG is out. I can't find a gun made by a serious manufacturer for it that weighs less than about 25lbs.
Considerations:
Ammo must be at least reasonably commercially available at a reasonable cost.
It need to be carriable.
Recoil is of some concern, though I realize full well nothing in this range is going to be light.
Thoughts?

There are others that do as well. I have a 300 Win Mag I can use anytime I want it so I was looking to go a bit more aggressive than that.
