punkncat, searched your post, but holy crap you start a lot of threads...I cant seem to find it. I really like some of your creative titles...."I smoke lots of crack...." lol
obscure.m925, do you feel sympathy for the thousands of people who die every year from smoking related cancers? The effects are well known, as well as the fact that nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs on the planet, but yet our government doesnt do anything about it, and instead chooses to make billions every year taxing a product that is deadly and highly addictive. I guess what I'm getting at here is just because something is legal or illegal doesnt make it right or wrong.
Weed is schedule 1, which means it supposedly has NO medical uses what so ever, but yet some states issue medical marijuana certificates and stamps.....I would call that a huge contradiction. The fact that pharmaceutical drugs(such as Marinol or Dronabinol) and made specifically to imitate a drug which supposedly has no medical uses is also a huge contradiction.
IMO what it comes down to is weed is extremely easy to cultivate, so drug companies would lose millions of dollars in sales since the patient(or anyone) could easily grow their own supply in their back yard. Since the pharmaceutical industry is one of the largest industries in the US, they have plenty of political clout, so passing a law legalizing weed in any form(medical or not) is almost impossible....for now.
as for the car thing, its illegal to drink then hop in a car....but its not illegal to drink. So DUI has nothing to do with the legality of weed.
