That is odd.... considering this year I have purchased from FFLs:

    Glock 26

    Glock 19

    Glock 20

    TC Pro-hunter

    Savage 375 rifle

    Marlin .17

    Beretta 12 gauge Extreme

I could swear there is something else in there but don't recall what offhand.

And not run into any snags. Granted there not assault rifles but some of those are pretty solid defensive (or offensive) weapons. I wonder what all the factors that set it off ar.

Thats the problem with giving broad power to the Executive branch (the ATF in this case). Because requirements / disqualifications can be made at the department level they can change arbitrarily and do far more (or less) than the original intent of the law effectively overcoming the checks and balances that are intricate to the system.

I mean, just weeks after we were told that the treasury department had to have this bailout money before Monday or the entire system would collapse in order to buy toxic assetts we learn that the treasury department has decided that is not the way to handle this and is going to use the money in a different way.

Its like me begging for money for food (while telling you I will starve to death if I don't get it right away that day) and then spending it on liquor two weeks after I get it. Not only did I not do what I told you I was going to do with it I obviously over exagerated the need for it to create panic in you to give it to me.

PS - and I may have helped screw up an election in the process (though I think that one had far deeper issues).

          I like the thread ; good conversation But ;
at this point I will not make any purchase that requires paperwork ,
registration is the 1st step in confiscation , in my opinion , but what do I know , I don't own a gun

That sounds like an alleged Janet Reno quote I heard...

            Edit for quotes:
Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal.
            Gun registration is not enough.
I am not sure if she really said these though. I am looking into it.

Does a purchase permit = registration?

Prior to having a concealed carry permit I used to go get 3 purchase permits before every gun show I attended, I seldom used them.

Well it is back, they moved it around and changed it a bit but its there

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
