Hey no fair. No one can expect us to copy and paste a sig into each of our posts individially. Thats just silly. -
I agree and didn't really think it was a true signature...Originally posted by CatoRockwellHey no fair. No one can expect us to copy and paste a sig into each of our posts individially. Thats just silly.

You can't compare PBN with any PB forums. We have to take in consideration that PBN has sub forums for EVERY manufacture and marker out there (including airsoft). So of course they're going to have a beast load more members then any PB forum on the market. Their AGD forums aren't that active. At the most they get a good 10-15 posts per week I would say and 95% of those guys are already registered here.Originally posted by going_homeAndrew AO is one of the bigger paintball sites on the net as far as registered members go.
Maybe not compared to PBN but lets look at it.
PBN - 522,735
AO - 59,814
SpecOps - 38,750
TechPB - 26,392
MCB - 15,043
CC - 7,025
Thats just a few, and sure its a big drop from PBN to AO but AO still has 20000 more than the next biggest paintball site.
All this info is available on the main pages of the sites.

Heres My Money
Agreed.Originally posted by CatoRockwellHey no fair. No one can expect us to copy and paste a sig into each of our posts individially. Thats just silly.
I said it before and Beemer didnt like it, but its true anyhow.
Its not a sig, its a copy and pasted picture.
Its just absolutely ridiculous pretending its a sig.
The emperor has no clothes my friend, the emperor has no clothes.
Honestly I dont care a bit about sigs anyways though.
Whats annoying is the site is so buggy, crashing or freezing up every day now.
You post and it literally takes 5 minutes to load your post many times.
Business class Roadrunner here so its not me.
Thats all, not whining, just giving a reason why I'd be willing to pay a yearly fee
with no perks just to see a better host used and Vbulletin updated properly.
Maybe when all the bugs are worked out of the Shoebox they can make this
the next project.

If it aint broke then why fix it? AO could use some revamping, but I don't think giving everyone a bigger pm box, access to a secret forum, and ability to use sigs is going to help do anything, but create separatism or elitism throughout the forum. I'm down to help support AO and I'm sure they wouldn't mind taking my money, but I don't think they will have the heart to. What really needs to be happening is people playing paintball, AO days, bigger meets, something that everyone can feel a part of. Thats what makes a online community go around.

Seeing Rush in September, can't wait, hehehe...Comment

There should be no need for supporting members. The main users here on AO provide a service to AGD by offering their knowledge as a free source of technical support. The users that come here for support also shouldn't be expected to pay, because they just want technical support for their markers and most of the time, it isn't available at their local fields or shops.
The free technical support is worth a lot to any company. It costs many businesses a lot of money to offer tech support. Any issues that can be fixed before it gets to the company is money and time saved.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

Agreed, to a point. AO still has an overhead cost. I don't know if the money that comes in from the Google ads pays the bills entirely or not.
I think most of us are in agreement that AO needs a facelift. I think it would be a good idea that as a way to offset the costs of that work would be to offer a supporting membership package. AO gets a few bucks out of it, and those of us that care enough would get a few perks our of the deal.Comment

My big fear is not enough people participate and pay the money for their actually to be any drastic improvements, and then it becomes sort of a situation where people are just out of money and angry cause the site is still buggy and slow. There has also been talk of there being a large number of people on here, and yes there are a lot of registered users, but looking down at the numbers of people actually using the forum in the paintball talk as I post this, you see most are lurkers, in fact there is in pbtalk right now, more mods than members who are actually signed in. The money simply won't be there, unless something amazing is offered as an incentive, and if it is a sig or avatar, it better apply to the whole forum, not just the supporting member area, and even still what if everyone starts posting in that area, now lurkers or members are forced to pay, and why should they.Comment

Yeah, Cato beat me to it. I really have no want to copy a sig EVERY time I post something. That is just plain silly and needless. And spiced rum is for women and children only. It might as well be parrot bay. Give me some Private stock at least.
I agree that having more AO days will certainly help out the forums.Comment
