I've been shooting 1911s and their clones since I was a little kid and would definately put them at the top of your list. I have a colt series 70 .45 that I love but right now you can probably get the most bang for your buck from springfield armory. If you are really looking for accuracy I would say have a gunsmith build you a custom one from caspian componens or go with one from wilson combat. My brother just finished a caspian and it is tight.

thats baisically what im looking for, how much? and how long do they last? and well, im a gun newb, but i truely feel that as my cival liberty, and my one rebellious thing, this is something i would like to do. I have always enjoyed shooting, from my grandmothers 22 (high school rifle team) to my friends 306, and his 12 gauge, to my first little crossman (or was it daisy) 1911 bb gun replica. I always liked to do it. PLease give me more information, and tell me what i need to know. I really appreciate it

That is a very nice gun, after I stop buying paintball stuff I hope to get one. Just have to pick between a 1911, berreta 92, or a glock 17.

I wonder if you could put a pair a DYE stickies on that gun

You should be able to find a nicely loaded springfield for about $500-700 depending on what you all want on it. A custom job like the caspian you are looking at anywhere from $1200 and up. My dad and him have sold identical ones to that for upwards of $1500.

You might have to replace a part or two everyonce in a while depending on how many rounds you put through it but they are solid guns. I've had mine for 11 years and put countless thousands through it and have only had to change a couple of springs and minor parts.

If you are really serious about learning I would check on taking a beginner class at GunSite in Paulden, AZ when you get back to the States. Not sure of where you reside when here, but there might be a closer school to you. I have taken 2 handgun classes from Jeff Cooper and Robert Young and they were exceptional. That was a couple of years ago though. Not sure who the instructors are now though. I can get more info if you are interested.

ok, how much for a millitary issue 1911? i really dont have 1500 to spend on a hand gun, i could start saving, and i totally understand you get what you pay for, But i figure, if it is good enough for the military, it is good enough for me, am i right? can you please give me more information, some websites (like the caspian one) and so fourth. Id really like to get to know my hand guns, and pick one that is suitable for me. the 2 caspians you posted (first 2) i really like. Also, what about barettas?

For a new bottom of the line colt you are looking at around
$500. I'm sure that you can find a used one though for a little less. Here's a couple of websites to check out:

I don't like the safety placement on the slide of the beretta and they don't have the .45 caliber that I prefer, but other than that they are great guns. Same for any of the other ones listed above. I have owned a Sig Sauer P226, 228 and 220 and like them for a double action handgun. You really just need to find someone to take you shooting with a couple of different ones so you can see which one you like the best.

Also, so far i really like the look of the damascus slides, i woyld deffinitely go with one of them. Now please tell me, everything else i would need to go with one of them. What reciever is good, and worth the money, that will last, and keep the gun maintained. What parts do i need to completely have a handgun assembled? does caspian make the gun? or do i need a gun smith to assemble the parts?

or do you feel it would just be wiser to go with a stainless colt 1911 and not worry about any thing else?

Experience the trusted name in firearms; GLOCK pistols provide precision, safety, and reliability in various caliber configurations and styles.

If you are looking for a polymer gun they are the way to go. You can carry them everyday for a year and never have to worry about rust. You can abuse the crap out of them and they will still work. Personally I dislike their trigger and how their "safety" operates but I understand that I am biased towards 1911s. I love all handguns though.

They are being distributed in the US through Smith and Wesson. I think that their fullsize lineup is butt-ugly and if you want a similar design that is good looking go with an H&K. They do make nice pocket pistols such as the PPK of which Sig Sauer makes a similar one also.

What caliber and make of handgun depends what you are going to use the handgun for; self defense, target practice, hunting, etc.

Damascus slides are rather pricey. You're looking at $500-600 for just the slide. I think it would be cheaper for you to not try and piece the gun together and just buy a finished one.

No real deals on line that I have found so far. Better to just go into a couple of your local gunshops when you get back to the states and see what you can afford. Or send me an email and I will see what kind of deal or shop can get you.
