yes, its true.. my school started with these stupid "identification cards". it has our grade, locker, picture of me, my very own Number, and also, my unique own barcode!! i really dont understand these, they say it will provide a "safer" work environment, i am puzzled as to how it will. AND, if we forget it, we get an after school detention. if we loose it, we pay 15 bucks for a new one, and get 3 days in school suspension, AND 2 days out of school suspension.
I now have my very own Barcode!

That's not cool at all. You lose it you gotta pay for it. You don't have it handy you get detentions/suspensions. And apparently, it serves no purpose. One word: BOYCOTT! -

sounds like it's to keep random weirdos from wandering into your school. good idea even if it is a royal pain.
detention for not having it on you isn't so bad. but five days worth of suspension for losing it seems a bit severe to me. i should think two or three days detention should suffice. you've already had to pay $15 to get a new one.

Whew! There's freedom for you! A number! Congratulations! You've been made to attend an institution for 12 years minimum! At this institution, you will be made to comply with various thing, and if you don't like it, they punish you.
Why do we pay 40% taxes? Because of our GREAT school system! What if I don't want to attend public school? That's just fine! I can go to ANY private school I choose! There's only one catch....I still get to pay half my feaking salery for the public edjucation that I don't want to use!
In this nation we are:
1. Losing freedom and gaining privilages Better protection, public schools, welfare, etc are costing you guys freedom. The only way that police can stop more terror is by gaining more power
2. Gaining privilages with a high price tag. Public school is a black hole...no matter how much money the nation spends, it still sucks! middle calss Americans are taxed at near 40%! The peasents of the middle ages were taxed at 30%, and most textbooks refer to them as slaves for that reason!
I want to bring some attention to something: The US govt. is teaching kids that there are no right and wrong answers. What is the effect? If your child has a 20 qustion test and misses 19 of them...it's fine! Why? Isn't that stupid? Yes, but here is the argument used to get this program instituted: "If a child gets 19/20 questions wrong, that child will feel inferior. Nobody had the right to make a child feel bad about himself, so from now on, there are no wrong answers."
Why would anybody think that was a good idea? There are a bunch of people being given multi million dollar budgets to instutute this program.
Why are condoms being passed out to school kids? Because the gut passing them out is getting paid a cushy salery to do so.
Who is paying these people so much money to do such bad things?? that'd be you and me, pal! We get stuck with the bill.
This isn't a conspiracy. I'm not saying that the govt. is out to "get" us all
I am saying that because we have no idea what's going on in our children's edjucation, some smart (yet crooked) people are swindling us out of tax dollars.
WOW! I just wrote a book! (Next year, I swear I'm going to see this published by somebody who is smarter than me
)
Sorry to rant, but BARCODES! Where the hell are they heading with this idea? All I know is that somebody out there is making money by producing ID cards, and we're paying him.

Talk about being introduced into the collective. "Resistance is futile...you will be assimilated." When did we start doing communism around here? Well, ok, mass barcode organiztion of a certain classification of people may not be "communistic" in it's approach, but it does sound rather extreme. Of course, the people who designed this system probably are the ones who think kids shouldn't have toy guns, and all little kids should have unisex toys. I'm all for safer schools, but I think this sounds really drastic.Comment

they tried to make us wear photo id's around our neck, they changed thier minds after the seniors voiced thier opinion.
they were scraping those eggs off for weeks.
they did manage to take away hats and wearing hoods in school... i never wore a hat and when i do i take it off when i enter a building out of etiquette ( SP?) but many people wear hats in my school. in all reality theres a point where saftey takes away from freedom, and if you dont have freedom, whats the point of the safty?
personaly id fight it tooth and nail.
and another thing is they claim its to protect u from stuff like school shootings... well if they are shooting they are probibly already in the school, and probibly are students and already have cards.
my school has a thing called CODE ORANGE. it incase of a shooting we all hide away from windows and doors, but they leave the doors unlocked to let police and such in the individual rooms... if the doors unlocked, whats the point in hiding in the corner of the room in a huttled mass? if anything all that does is make it easyer for someone to kill us! and every room in my school has windows so if police wanted to get in its no problem. they say if they dont lock the doors incase the shooter is in there too so the police can save you, but im sorry if im a shooter you arnt locking/ unlocking anything unless thats how i want it. and even if they are locked the doors are easy enough to bust in for five of us when we get locked out of the locker room, so they are especialy easy for a trained SWAT team!if im locked in a room with a killer then o well cops cant get in but most importantly the killer cant get into any of the other rooms.
ok im done w/ my rant..."You have not converted a man because you have silenced him." -John Morley

When my school got out IDs, there were rumors that the students would have to wear them, and not just the teachers. If it ends up being mandatory that we wear them, I won't hesitate to voice my opinion in some way.. One idea was to iron on a hammer and sickle onto a shirt, and wear one of those "Hello, My name is:" tags, and put my student number on it...
If they are only for "getting discounts at the movies" like they said.. why make them with a hole for a lanyard type thing to go through?Comment
-
we are required to wear them around our necks.. its making me mad. i tied the string in the back of my neck to it was shorter, and my teacher MADE me put it back the way it was. i can understand it would stop "weirdos" from wandering around the school. but if someone came to shoot up the school, and a teacher asked for a ID card, it wouldnt stop them from doing ANYTHING....Comment

We have ID's. But its just a little driver's license sized thing thats we are supposed to keep in our wallets or something. We never actually need it though unless we are buying something from the Campus Store or checking out a book.

Wow, ever read 1984 by George Orwell? I suggest you show it to your teachers. Or bring up the reference that prisoners of war are similarly issued numbers. That doesnt sound like something fair to do, especially the suspension/payment if you lose the card. You guys should definately speak out against it.
On a similar topic, it doesnt make sense to go to school when its gonna be closed early for snow and you have free periods all morning!! Why the hell am I serving detention all this week!!?OSK

Don't worry, your school will probably stop enforcing any rules about them in a little while. Our school gives out student IDs. They never ask to see them ever again. I threw mine out the first day i got it cuz they messed it up and you couldn't read it... never needed it.
