Torque is the name of the game dude. HP is calculated from torque and rpm. Hence you take any low torque engine, spin the heck out of it, and you will get higher hp numbers to a point (there are usually peaks though).

Why do you think dynamometers measure torque, and the HP and TQ lines ALWAYS cross at 5252 rpms?

        Because Horsepower = rpm x torque / 5,252

You say the replacement for displacement is technology. Sure, if you're trying to make two cars that are about equal. Put the same tech into both types of engine and you'll surely see why 4=4 and 4+4=8.

Now I know the above is a function of "may the man with the most money win" Because that is essentially what street racing comes down to time and time again.

Sorry I know I went away from the ricer discussion.

I really didn't want to get invovled but I gotta, I like the looks of imports when it's tastfull (lose the 8 foot wing)but I'll always love American Muscle (I miss my firebird!)

Case where it can be done the right way and a wrong way: I was driving on the interstate and was passed by a civic had the big wheels big wing and the big exhaust tip (must have been some long screws holding that 4 inch tip on that 1 inch tailpipe) needless to say he was easily belittled by my stock neon sport. Shortly thereafter I was belittled by a VW Jetta (at least that's what I think it was judging by the blur, it coulda been a jet from the sound) and if you were next to it it would look like a normal family car, all go no show. It all depends on what you like I guess.

I found this the other day to, someone might like it but to me it is silly. yes that is a subwoofermade to look like a NOS tank.

What do you call it when you supe up a domestic compact? I just wanna know what to call my car this summer
