I totally understand what your saying. But it's up to the officer as to whether or not he wants to issue a summons. Discretion is the key.

The municiple court is there for exactly this purpose: to handle infractions of town ordinances, petty crimes and summons' issued by officers. So it's not wasteing anyones time or money. It's exactly why the system was set up in the first place.

Alright I stand corrected. I did not know they had an individual court for that. I just thought it was all one.

Must work differently from down here. Most tickets are sent in through the mail. You pay it goes on your record. Almost everyone is happy. The only time you have to go to court is if you wish to appeal the ticket.

Then come with your checkbook ready. Get in, admit to it, pay the fine, and let the courts take care of those more important things which you are so concerned about.

Or better yet, really save the court some time and stop breaking the law.

It's municiple court or traffic court, depending on where you live. They don't try murder cases there! They are revenue sources for the township/county/state. Cheetah is going to have to pay a nice fine to help swell his local coffers.

Cheetah, my advice to you is to ask for Probation before Judgement . This is a plea that has you paying the fine and court costs, but the points are held off via probation. Basically, you would have to go a certain period of time (usually a year) without any infraction, and the points never appear on your record. Screw up though and you get the points right away!

              dude... you got jacked...
my friend got caught spinning donuts in a park for little kids in his mustang and he got arrested, got his car impounded. the funny thing is... didnt get a point on his record, doesnt have to go to court, doesnt have to pay for damages, all he had to pay was to get his car out of impound, and his punishment was to go around to neighbors and say he was sorry and get their signatures. dude you got jacked, what state do you life in?

but depending on where you live, some things cost different prices...my friend was burning out at a stop sign and got a $200 fine for street racing. i know in some states you get your car impounded automatically for that.

And he found someone stupid enough to do it.

If you dont like the law, work to get it changed. Dont break it then complain about getting caught...

Ha! I know Mango, Shartely, or Restola would have pulled a donut in an empty parking lot at 17 and they would have all complained about the ticket! It is human nature to want to try such things out. Plus it is good practice for snow driving (turning into the spin, etc.)

Chances are you will probably have to write a paper and pay a small fine (if it is your first offense). You will have to talk about the dangers of doing donuts in an empty parking lot for five pages and then it will be wiped from your record. Also I know we have a tendency to over exaggerate the emptiness of the parking lot and the extreme injustice of the police so maybe you will be fined more.

If it is as you describe, however, you will probably just get a slap on the wrist (small fine) and have to write a paper that no one will ever read (we all got that special opportunity at 16 or 17). Just make sure to drive safe from now on.

You are correct not to blame the cop. He was just doing his job. The truth is, however, we have all been there. My father used to take me to practice snow driving in empty parking lots.

You and the cop are both right in this case. He was doing his job and you did deserve a ticket but reckless driving is pretty harsh on your insurence at that age.

I would admit your mistake to the judge pay the fine and ask him to reduce the offence on your record. He wont let you go but if you're gracious about admiting your guild and you explain the financial burdan of the insurance he may reduce it on your record.

Do you have juvenile offender pleas in your state. If so take full advantage of it.

In Alabama a minor can plead this anytime they want to, (The judge can sometimes do away with it). Once they plead this, they pay the court fee, the ticket and all, (Some places will tack on extra community service), and the ticket will never hit your record.

Or there is a trick to make tickets never reach your insurance company.

Mail in the fine on a check that is 5 dollars over. The accounting department will then have to send you a check for 5 dollars. They will mark you has having paid your fee. They for some reason can't send off your record until the books are clear. So once they send you the check, tear it up and do not cash it. And more then likely this will never hit your insurance.

When my friend told me this I was like na man you are lying. But he should me the 4 speeding tickets he got in the last year and none of them hit his insurance company. I also asked around and found others have done the same.

His tickets have been in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
