    Thanks for the answers.

The guys in the picture are Marines. "Members of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Fox Company, known as the "Raiders," eat and rest beneath a bullet-pocked wall in a house in Nasiriyah on Thursday."

    Thanks,
That picture is from MSNBC.com. There are many more on the site. MSNBC Images of War Many of the pictures capture the tragedy of war for all involved. My heart goes out to the guys over there doing their job and the Iraqi civilians - caught in the middle of it.

Here's another picture. These guys look really tired. Can't imagine falling asleep in the back of the truck, covered in dust, in 100* heat. These guys probably had a rough last few days...

I didn't think the ones in the first picture were marines... I thought they all had the "Digital" BDU's now... One of my friends just graduated Marine boot camp, and is going to MCT here in a few days... he brought back some of that "Digital" camo back... that stuff looks weird, but when we were playin paintball he was alot tougher to spot...

It also could be an Infered Illuminator for Night vision.

I read the digital camo has pictures of the Marine logo in it. Its designed for positive and negaitive space. In case theres nothing to stand behind. It is kind of weird. Its all made of blocks.

this has nothing to do with the guns, but isnt it noticable that were wearing jungle bdu's in the desert. just thought id point that out in the pic.
I recently read that the military did not have enough desert BDU's (3 per soldier) to outfit everyone going to Iraq. Most units chose to have everyone where woodland BDU's instead of 1/2 the guys wearing woodland and 1/2 wearing desert BDU's (if the unit could get some desert but not enough for everyone).

I got from an MSN article that asked pretty much the same question.

That uniform is part of his MOPP suit. They didnt have enough in Desert colors to issue to everyone, so they issued out the woodland ones. They are marines, not SF. Those, as dansim said, are standard issue desert boots. The "box" on top of the rifle is a night aiming device; it allows the shooter to shoot from any position, and, the bullet strikes where the dot is (once its zeroed). Without NODs, you cant see it. they are actually pretty cool little devices. Helps alot in CQB to get those snapshots off.

If that's the case, then they should come to my house! When I PCSd (Permenant Change of Station) to Little Rock, I got issued 3 pairs of DCUs (Desert Combat Uniform), and then when we deployed to Pakistan, they gave me another two pairs, and then there are the three pairs that I got when I deployed to Saudi, plus all the boots, floppy hats, field jackets, yada, yada, yada! I could practically supply the Army with what I have in my garage!
I love the DCUs though, except for the '70s butterfly collar!

If you look at the middle jarheads pant bottom, you will notice the velco strip. That is indicative of the MOPP suit.
As for SF groups and regular troops working together; in a word, no. They train differently, have different capabilities, and are deployed differently. Do they occasionally link up? Sure. Do they run into one another every now and again? Depending on the units, yes. Do they operate together? No way in hell. It would be like asking a JV kid on a football team to play a game with the pros.

i hate the digicamies with a passion, the old style ones are coming to be known as "analogs". many of us analogs will tell you the new digi marines coming out of bootcamp are really nasty, and i agree. they dont seem to train em the same, i dont know.

anyway, those new digital bdus work sooooo good, although they are really ugly. and you dont have to iron them (its a god send), although i where my "analog" style anyway

Sorry OS, you need to get out in the rain more often Those are the Gortex wet weather pants. If MOPP suits, those mud-dogs would be wearing the suspenders.

You sure? I know the bottoms fasten the same...but they look just like the newer issued MOPP suits. Heh, I had PLENTY of rain this weekend, thank you very much

                              Army;

I bet you dollars to dounuts that the pants are MOPP gear and in their lounge mode they have pulled the straps off and are sitting on them

My support for this is the fact that on the NEW mopp pants the suspenders are fitted with a snap clip that is VERY close to the belt line. And when I was sucking rubber in Korea and the all clear sounded I looked much like these guys sans the powdercoat job and the first thing I did was get rid of the suspenders.

also my goretex lacks velcro on the legs :P

**EDIT**and the pic pants lack the giant friggin black zippers my Goretex has
