Are you saying that if someone made that argument back in 1930, and cheeseburgers were illegal today, you'd be OK with that? Should we outlaw video game consoles and the internet just because people might get 'addicted' to them?

Does this country need anymore problems? I don't give a **** if the government is lying to us about drugs, it appearently doesn't affect most people using drugs, I mean look at you InfinityBPS, it's illegal, but you still do it.

No - we're trying to eliminate a major problem. You don't care if you're being lied to about them? It would mean that everything you're arguing for is based on bullcrap. It doesn't affect people using? Then why have the laws? If you think prohibition isn't serving it's main purpose, as a deterrent, why have it? Just to ruin people's lives?

And you are saying that the government spends our tax money on keeping drug users/dealers in jail, when if they weren't any drug users in the first place, there will be no dealers to kill people, and no people to arrest on drug charges.

Until Big Brother has a camera in every room, there will always be people smoking pot and there will always be people doing drugs. They are here to stay, illegal or not, harmful or not, whatever the case. If people are willing to bungee-jump, I can promise you there will be people willing to smoke weed. The difference is that all of the violent aspects associated with marijuana can be avoided by ending a pointless prohibition.

It's sad that you don't have enough self control to not smoke pot.

Oh please. I guarantee you I could fill that statement in for anybody by replacing "smoke pot" with "post on message boards", "play XBOX", "have sex", "eat cheeseburgers", or whatever your thing is.

Gotta cut out here, I have actual responsibilites to attend to. Peace all

Actually, I'm fine with the fact that you think it's a waste of money, clearly that's your opinion, but it's not addictive on the levels that cigarettes are. Cigarettes are physically addictive - your body craves it, while marijuana is AT BEST mentally addictive, I would say less addictive than chocolate or sex in any event, and some people would say it's not addictive at all. Whereas you won't find anyone to tell you cigs aren't addictive.

In the end something that you spend that much money on could have done great things for you life. So its not worth it to waste the time and money on it. Its not an opinion. Its a fact.

And what experience quiting both of them do you have to say that? None. Trust me...I know. If you are a cronic smoker of Pot you will go through the exact same symptoms trying to quit that is you would tobacco. And I will give you a tip. If you chose to quit pot buy yourself some Nicotine gum and it will indeed help. Again. I can say this from a lot more experience than any of you can.

Not necessarily. I know the couch-lock you're imagining, but it can motivate you to do things. That's a whole 'nother thread though. Will it cost money? What doesn't? The last line is a direct result of prohibition.

I am not imagining anything. I am relating experience. I know for a fact it does. I have experience in this myself. Otherwise I would not comment at all. When you have gone both ways over a long stretch of 47 years like I have your comments here may be totaly different. I do not expect you to understand that now because when I was your ages I wouldn't have heard it either. You will some day. I just want to plant a seed here for you to consider. I am not judging anyone here.

Not really. It's legal medicine in nine states, and you need your doctor to OK it. Also, not everyone is that paranoid about it. There are certain legal rights to privacy you have with your doctors. And just because some people -don't- tell their doctors they smoke doesn't mean the cancer came from the weed. It just means that because it's illegal, no one really knows.

Oh common. Such a small percentage in that data base its ludicrous to use that argument. There are no good statistics on this one and I would suggest you not even try and go there.

Clearly I agree with you on the part about ruining people's lives legally. That's truly my main motivation. It's senseless to ruin someone's life to protect them from something that was doing a hell of a lot less harm.

          I agree with that.

You may have wanted to blow right over the related death I pointed out to you. Doesn't suit your arguments but I do know that you need to hear that. That was my first wife and the mother of my only child.

I told you not to smoke it. Its a waste of money and it is indeed addictive just like cigarettes are. It robs you of motivation. It cost you money. It may get you hanging with people who will get you in trouble. If you have a problem it will act as a crutch and not help you deal with that problem.

I never in that thread responded to the legalization issue.

I personaly was involved with a cronic "smoker" who eventualy took her own life. I am not saying it was the cause. I am pointing out it was a symptom and caused all sorts of problems with whether or not her medication for clinical depression would work correctly. She refused to tell her doctor about her smoking pot. He had no idea. It contributed to her death. Thats what I am saying. Did it contribute to her developing her condition? I have no idea. It didn't help it in the end though did it?

How would anyone know if there was a Cancer related death. No one will tell thier Doctor they smoked pot.

Spend you money elsewhere is my advice. Take it of leave it.

I do believe it should be decriminalized though. At least to some extent. Its sensless to make it ruin someones life legaly. I know that sounds odd but I have seen people that needed another chance and in some parts of the country the level of criminal prosecution is a bit extreme. In some it is not.

And for your information yes I have smoked it.
actually phil, you kinda did. you would respond by saying smoking kills people, and that it should remain illegal. only once did you mention that you knew someone who had died in a relation to marijuana, but you never gave the story. in my opinion in the last thread that is what you did, but i may be wrong.

I never said it like that. I was responding to someone who said that there was "not one death attributed to it". Kind of a bold statement to make isn't it? I knew better.

I wanted to but I just didn't feel up to telling the whole story. Still not realy into it but if it will help I will tell you some of it. I figure its not much good to anyone else as a secret but my heart is just not in reliving it too much now. And some of it my Kid doesn't even know and I am afraid for him to hear it here if he looks in. You understand?

Ask me what parts you want to know and I will try and tell you.

I hate that these discussions never stay on topic, and the real issues are never discussed.

People are so busy nit-picking at other people's comments that their own opinions, ideas, and supporting evidence never seem to get any light...

Very true, most people can't tell at all that I smoke, and when they hear my friends making fun of how damn stoned i was the other day, they're like, "HAHAHa, ya right, you don't smoke..." And im like "ok." And nobody beleives it, but I kinda like that.

Very true, I still have yet to see someone against legalization comment on the lies of the government and the deception that they are feeding to the American people just to have it their way.

                    Edit:
They think their office in the government is Burger King supposedly(after re-reading that last part I had to add that)

What I would like to see is for any anti-legalization person to give a reason other than "it hurts people, why make it legal if it hurts people?"

I want an anti-legalization person to respond to any of the points in any of the articles I posted links to (I would type my entire arguement myself, but the author of those articles is much more respected than myself, and much much better with his words).

"Its bad and I dont like it" is NOT a valid reason for spending BILLIONS of dollars each year with LITTLE OR NO EFFECT on use, and making GANGS insanely rich.

I could care less what habitual users of marijuana on this board have said to me, anyone that needs a Controlled Dangerous Substance, such as marijuana, to function or feel good is of a weak mind and body. I wish I could help you all because you have no idea the damage you are doing to yourselves. You are all addicted, trust me. Denial is all part of the dependency your body has grown for the marijuana. Try not smoking up ONCE for 6 months. You can't do it.

As I said in my last post, something such as Alcohol, can be regulated and the intake can be moderated in such a manner as to not cause addiction. Yes, people have a predisposition to become alcoholics, but the number 1 cause of alcoholism is depression, a pre-existing condition of mental stress. It is also hereditary. People are not inherintly BORN with a predisposition to Marijuana. They BECOME addicted to it.

Here is an excellent article outlineing the effects of Marijuana on the body. I do not deny the medical uses of marijuana, but for years cocain was also used. And medicinal marijuana is used on terminally ill patients who are going to die anyway, which eases the pain.

This is the 404 Not Found error page for AAFP.

Here is another Article, endorsed by physicians, from a reputable source, about the effects of marijuana on the body.

                        http://www.schick-shadel.com/marijuana.asp

Here is an article discussing the effects of THC on sperm development in regards to infertility issues.

homeworkersexpats.com is your first and best source for information about homeworkersexpats. Here you will also find topics relating to issues of general interest. We hope you find what you are looking for!

So pretty much, you just said that you don't care about what evidence we just gave you because we are "under the influence of marijuana"? Highly educated people could come here and tell you important facts and if they ever tried it you are just going to push of whatever they say as the weed talking? Wow, they sure did brainwash you good, didn't they.

I read all the articles, I fail to see anything that justifies marijuana to be illegal. I don't see any side effects of marijuana that are worse than anything of alcohol or tobbaco.
