AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
oh yeah, if you're wanting lots of bass, you gotta sound deaden your car, otherwise it'll sound like ***. Dynamat is always popular (although expensive, but most will be). Or try some expanding foam (hard as hell to use properly) or foam tape.
Yeah man. Dynamat is good, but a ripoff. Go to a home depot or something and get a roll of stuff called Peel & Seal, it'll be in the roofing section probably. It's the exact same stuff as dynamat and WAY WAY cheaper.
My freind has a sweet sound system. I'll have a good one after I work on that thing called a car
I'll ask him what he's got. I know he has a box in the back, a pretty good one I think. Amp, got a crappy one. Maybe got those 2 mixed up. I think he has some speakers laying around he still needs to install. A couple hundred dollar tape player. (No CD on it, he plugs in his real nice CD player to it)
no offense BT, but the brands you named are some of the worst quality brands out there. seriously, dont get anything pyramid, its not worth the money. That 800watt pyramid amp is as powerful as a 400watt alpine or JBL, but the alpine and jbl will sound so much better.

Silly rabbit. Alpine's for kids.
Try Brax, Helix, Phase Linear, Stinger, Grundig, Blaupunkt or Cerwin-Vega. The original Big Boy Toys.
My current system currently pounds out about 135 decibels with 7000 watts. The Fuel Dodge Challenger, reportedly the loudest car in the world, pumps out an astonishing 172 dbs at 10,000 watts. Keep in mind that at 170 decibels your intestines will dissolve and you'll die in a puddle of your own diarrhea.
-edit- Wired Mag did an article in Oct/00 about a Ford Bronco being under construction in Phoenix that would put out 175 dbs. Here's an excerpt of that article and the link
The Beast is as strange a vehicle as you're likely to see. A remote control works the volume levels from the outside, where it's safe. The windshield is 3 inches thick, to prevent it from blowing out. Pneumatic pistons pull the doors shut with thousands of pounds of pressure, maintaining an airtight seal and stopping them from flying open. The body panels have been stiffened to keep them from crumpling under the force of the beat. The stock bench seat has been replaced with two custom bucket seats, fitted so far forward that the vehicle must be driven with your knees nearly at chin level. Behind the seats is a floor-to-ceiling wall of speaker cones. There is so much extra weight from the reinforcements and the dozens of batteries powering the sound system that the vehicle's top speed is about 30 mph - anything faster and the brakes might fail. The gas tank has been downsized to hold merely five gallons and the steering wheel is vestigial, 8 inches across, because this car doesn't go anywhere except up a trailer ramp. The Beast is designed for one purpose only - to be the loudest thing on four wheels.
Return to the free market. Get rid of all government regulations and let society make it's own decisions. Time and again the relaxing of government regulations has increased profits, innovation and the economy.
I can get you some 6x9 pioneers. I will find out the model and post the info on them Friday. I have access to 8 pairs. If anyone is interested LMK. I will probably sell them in the $50 range plus shipping. Once I see them I will get the model and be more exact.
if i may, avoid the 15 inch subs. lots of people confuse bigger with better when it comes to subs and thats just not true. you would be be much better off sound wise with 3 10's than 2 15's. friends dont let friends install subs over 12 inches. :) as far as your brands go, i second everyone else, avoid pyramid like the f'ing plague. if done wisely a grand will get you a long way with car audio and you will be very pleased with the results.

i meant pioneer, i couldnt remember if he ended up with teh pioneer or the alpine, but he got the pioneer, he works at best buy so he gets them real cheap, like 350 for a 600 doller unit
ok, here's my setup, not the biggest or best, but perfect for me.
JVC kd-sh9700 head unit(just got it, sooo tight!)
MB quart 6.5" components up front
infinity 6.5" coaxials in back
single audiobahn flame Q 10"
400 watt JBL 4 channel amp for speakers
600 watt JBL Class D amp for sub
The MB quarts are good enough that they make they infinitys sound like crap in comparision. And my sub outperforms my friends twin 10"s with 500 watts going to both. That's because the box this sub sits in was designed by my friend( a mechanical engineer) using computer modeling! If there's one place to drop a wad, it's in your enclosure for your sub.

alpine is still one of the best hu makers out there along with eclipse. but what type of system u got? thats alot of watts for only 135db. i mean 2 kicker s15l7 have done 140+ and thats only like 2-3k watts...

15's may not sound quite as clear as 10's/12's, but they sure to do rattle a car to hell. I had two JL audio 15 w6's in my accord. It was pretty loud.
I just got a truck that i'm throwing a little money into. Nothing great, but it should sound pretty good.
all alpine speakers and HU
two alpine v12's amp(757 and 505)
One 12" stroker in a sealed box
I'll be good because it's going right in the back of my extended cab ranger. Not the best, but it'll defintely hit.
