Please Hasek was a far superior goalie. Possibly better than Plante even.

The fact that he got stuck with seriously mediocre teams in front of him is not his fault.

While I am a huge hasek fan...but not so much of a hockey fan these days, i must say it's tough to compare the two. It's sorta like comparing Shaq and Kobe...it's tough because they play difference positions and do their thing totally differently. I know Roy and Hasek are both goalies , but they both get the job done in a totally different way.

Hasek = AGD, doing their own thing, pioneering, proving to be up there with the greats over and over.

Roy = Bob Long. Great product, and they've set the standard, but they didn't do anything brand new, they just refined what came before them.

Im not even a big fan of his, but I have to say Roy is one of the best goalies who ever played the game. Roy is the one who made kids want to be goalies instead of forwards and d-men. Roy is the one who pioneered the butterfly in the NHL.

You could say there are other goalies in the same caliber as Roy, but better than him? I don't think so.

Roy is one of the greatest, if not the greatest.

In my books he is. He's the reason I was a Canadians fan, and now a Colarado fan. (Well, I'm also a Senators and leafs fan, but whos counting! )

Sorry man, I watched way too many games where Hasek and hasek alone made the difference.

Roy has the rings, due in large part to superior Colorado teams overall. Yes he is a great goalie. But the undeniable fact is, he had great teams in front of him whereas Hasek did not.

Put Hasek in Roy's place and Hasek would be sportin' the rings too.

Roy was a good goalie, the best? Maybe. I think any goalie who played before the pre-mask days had balls of steel. I never understood his name though, how they get W-A-H out of Roy is beyond me (that's just the way it's for his name and the region he's from though really, but still it makes me scratch my head even though it's cultural thing).
