Excuse me? I think you will find it was a Scot (therefore British) and American who invented the first car, and it's first trip was in London. I don't think that counts as Americans inventing cars...

To be honest the USA is too easy to make fun off, so I rarely bother

If you called all the Scotish people I know "British" They would punch you, pick you up, and slide you down the bar and out the door

Fine we didn't invent them. But we: (1) Made them popular
          (2) Made them affordable to everybody (maybe you've heard of Henry Ford?)

One other thing: WE INVENTED PAINTBALL
          BrockSampson "I see dead people..."

and once I see them, I make sweet, sweet love...

And in good American fashion we took all of that and basically forgot about it.

I work a stones throw away from the original Ford plant in Highland Park, MI. This is the same plant that was the birthplace of the assembly line. Unfortunately most of the plant has been torn down to create a strip mall and grocery store. The remainder of the plant's brick facade and long row of windows, (I'm going to look for some pictures of it then, It really was a sight.) have been painted to match the strip mall. The original Ford administrative building, also at the same site, has become dilapidated with broken windows, and crumbling bricks, with only a small plaque stating it's glorious, revolutionary, and innovative past.
