He didn't have to. He increased spending by double digit percentages every year he was in office. If he hadn't done that there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.

Two years ago it did, right around a time frame we like to call 9/11. Yes, the economy was performing poorly. It was due to a lot of factors, most of which were out of Bush's hands. For instance the single largest terrorist attack in our history that specifically targeted our financial markets. Also the corporate fraud that was a result of Clinton's cash limitations on executive compensation was a big problem. Today though the market closed at about it's highest point in 18 monthes and new job claims are down to their lowest level since Feb.

Again you are trying to place the blame on one thing when the blame resides on many things.

When you show me where Davis had to deal with completely unexpected events that were outside of his control AND then turned it around I'll give him his due. But none of that is true. He caused his problem and he did nothing to fix it.

By the way the US Economy is turning around now. Unemployment figures released today show a substantial drop in claims.

You words exactly and you are wrong. The economy was going down BEFORE the end of Clinton's second term! This downturn began in CLinton's term and Bush inherited it! Now the economy has actually been growing for the past few quarters. The jobs and spending are finally catching up to the recovery.

BTW who was the last Democatic President to cut taxes?

No, I didn't go to Harvard, but I maintained a 4.0 GPA in college while working full-time and raising a family. um if Bush DID did do a little columbian marching powder AND got a C average at harvard at the same time, I'm still impressed...

Some of the taxes the left wing kook democrats tried to pass in California during Davis' first term.

                        - Soda Tax (have an extra tax on top of CRV (California redemption value) to help pay for all the fat kids who drink soda.

                        - SUV Tax (tax SUV's and vans because they use more fuel per mile and add to global warming)

                        - Diaper Tax (tax to help pay for waste?)

During his second term he tried to raise the car tax VLF, but it didn't pass the senate (and the public outcry), so he used the trigger mechanism instead to take blame away from him...

It is really simple... the left wing kook democrats really messed up... they totally overspent trying to make California a socialist state... plus Busta-mecha's hidden agenda of trying to turn California back to a Mexican state. Which both America and Mexcian-America were against (proved by the voting results). California can't pay healthcare and education for both citizens... plus they are promoting illegal immagration by giving driver licenses and other benefits... to illegals?!! WTF?!

This is the guy you are defending... I'm trying to figure out why....?

Be fair, Clinton did (although he had little to do with it, the Republicans forced it on him).

                            So did Kennedy.

I've watched every democratic debate so far, and the tax debate isn't about whether or not to repeal the tax cut, but whether or not to repeal the entire thing. Bustmante's whole plan was to raise taxes. Davis's plan was to raise taxes. There isn't a single democratic dandidate anywhere these days that doesn't want to raise taxes (especially on the "wealthy")

Just in case anyone cares, Davis did not initiate the car tax, it was always there. Its just that before everyone got a rebate so they didn't have to pay as much, but there was a law that said if the economy went into the dumps then the rebate stopped.

So you see, there never was or is a car tax, just a car rebate that we no longer get.

And the whole rebate thing was initiated by Davis' predecessor (forgot name).
