While I am strongly opposed to the drug laws, that article reeks of massive bias and crappy "opinion" reporting.

I'd like to know the source though. Sounds like some facts mixed in poorly with a bunch of fiction. Maybe that was the point...

Hmm, and what site is this?
I agree, this sounds like it has alot of bias, but the DEA's may have been partially to blame. Its really impossible to draw any conclusion from an artical like that.

I too wished there was another source for this story, because I was doubting its credibility also, but I still thought it was worth posting, because I have read this story on other credible news sites, just not with this much detail, but there was a mexican girl that was shot by the DEA while just driving a car with a friend of the family, I'm not sure how much of the rest of the story is fake. It was from MJ.com(abbreviated)

Yeah, it sounds like 5% truth and 95% nonsense.

But for whatever reason it's too bad a 14 year old girl was shot.
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

You'd think we'd hear about it on the news.
"What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."

I just did a search for her name online. The first four pages of results on google did not turn up a SINGLE legitimate news source or webpage. It was all results from heavily biased news sources and such.

You'd think if there was a legitimate issue here, you'd get a return from CNN or some other real news source.

Edit: I'm not trying to say I don't believe she got shot, I just mean that the circumstances under which she were killed are probably vastly different from the story posted above.

This is the situation, as reported by the authorities at the scene:

Authorities give this account of the shooting:

Plain clothes agents saw a man they thought was Joey Angel Villarreal come out of a house and get into the passenger side of a car.

A girl got into the driver's side and drove away without turning on the car's lights.

The agents followed and boxed the car in. But the driver refused to stop, first hitting one DEA vehicle head-on, then shifting into reverse and ramming another. The agents fired at least four times, striking the girl once in the head.

So, apparently it was dark out, or at least dark enough where she should have had her lights on. That makes me think their mistaking the man in the car for the girls father more believeable, its not like they had full daylight to see his face.

Driving around at night without headlights on looks suspicious.

Lastly, apparently she rammed the DEA's cars. Hell, if someone started ramming my car when I was trying to arrest them I'd shoot too.

LIke everyone has said, theres more to the story than the above "news" article is willing to admit.

Story from the San Antonio Express

From what it sounds like the DEA moved on the wrong guy and spooked a little girl that didn't know how to react to the situation. She pannicked and reacted poorly and they misunderstood her confusion for malice and open fired.

Her death is tragic. While I don't blame the DEA agents for misinterpretting the girl's motives it would have been nice if they had tried to disable the car first. It also might have been a good idea during this stakeout to watch the house and see who was getting into the car. But, the flipside to that is that there is a reason that 14 year old kids don't have a driver's license, because they don't know how to react on the road. She was too inexpereinced to be on the road in the first place, and that decision contributed as much to her death as any.
