Also.

Since they thought the passenger was her father it would be instructive to know what crimes he had been accused of in addition to drugs.

Meaning, that if he was normally known to be carrying a deadly weapon (gun) then it is not out of the question to think that the ramming would soon be accompanied by gunshots from him and/or the driver.

that article was so biased, its not even funny. it was unfortunate what happened, but after readin the story from a credible news source i can say safely say most of this is bullpoop.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm ignorant about most laws, but I did take a hunter's safety/firearm handling course a few years back.

I have issues with firing into the passenger compartment of a car with darkened windows.

Shouldn't you HAVE to be able to see/identify your target? Seems a bit like blind firing to me.

I understand and reconize that there is bias in this article and I haven't had time to look it up anywhere else yet but I think I can believe that a 14yr old girl was shot.

The simple truth is the DEA agents felt threatened by her ramming the barricade and responded with what they deemed appropriate force.

They didn't know they were killing a child that didn't understand what they was happening. I suspect (as indicated in the news article) that upon realizing what they did the agents that fired those shots spent the rest of the night in tearful remorse.

But, they did not act without cause or reason.

I have personally seen close friends have awfuls things done to them and their children by both the DEA and DFACS.
Granted that they were involved with a group of people that invited the unwanted attention, but were not involved with them in the way nor to the degree at which the authorities made it out to be.
To make a long story short they had a guy who was dealing in heavy drugs who came over to the house on a regular basis.This was an old friend whom they had known since before he was involved in anything illegal.
The DEA had been watching him , and had concluded that he was using my friends house as a drop off point for his drugs.On the night thay raided his house(my friends) they actually did find drugs in the guys(dealers) car.They proceeded to do serious damage to my friends house acting on a search warrant to thorougly check the premises , where they were unable to actually find drugs.
My friends were still caught up in the wrap and sent to jail.Both their children were put into state custody pending a court decision.
While the legal fight was going on , my buddies children were raped by older kids in the foster home.They had to complete classes to get their kids back in spite of the fact that they were not in direct possession of any drugs nor did either one fail a drug test.
The guy(dealer) had already been to court and openly admitted that the drugs were his and that my friends were uninvolved.
They are still attempting to get the damage to their personal belongings taken care of.
They are still attempting to clear their names of this charge.
All because they allowed an old freind in their house who was a drug dealer.I suppose you can call it a lesson learned , but those are some serious consequences.
Drug laws and the agencies responsible for upholding them are a seriously unchecked power.Rico and all its related drug laws allow unbelievable wrongs to be commited against citizens in the name of the drug war.

vf-xx ---i took the class a few weeks ago, and i guess they dont have the same rules ? u gotta know ur target..where the bullet will go and where it will stop..they obviously didnt know their target.

As for your friend, I would next time be very careful about who I hang out with. A lof of my highschool friends went on to lower and worse things in life and as a result I refuse to have any association with them. It sucks, because they were my very good friends, but I've told them that if that's what they want to do with their lives they keep it away from me.

It's rough, but you got to do it.

Maybe if your friends didn't allow a known drug dealer in their house, their kids wouldn't have gotten raped. Yes, I blame your friends. That is just poor parenting.

I don't care how long you've been friends, when you chose to associate with criminals you do so knowing the risks. If you don't know the risks, then you are mentally deficient.

Bringing children into that equation is just stupid beyond measure. Obviously your friends didn't purposely want to get their kids taken away, but I blame them 100% just the same. You shoudn't hang out with criminals, period. When you knowingly do so, you forfeit your right to claim that you are an "innocent bystander" later.

Allowing a known drug dealer into your home automatically makes you a bad parent in my book!

To say that the rape of children is justifiable because of allowing yourself to be friends with a drug dealer is wrong on so many levels.
My last post mysteriously didn't make it into the thread, so I won't even try to recap....
But it is sad to see you so affected by the anti drug propaganda to even think such a thing.
