Michael Moore is being sued!

I think some of you need to go back and reread my post. I didn't say that guns would turn people into killing machines. I didn't say guns automatically lead to death. etc.........

I said that when a person is in a state of mind that he will beat you up if you bump into you, what do you think that same person would do if he was carrying a gun.

Do you think that if one guy shoots another guy, then everyone else in the society will just calmly pull out their guns hold it on him until the cops come you are mistaking. One person in the crowd will fire on him. If he misses, or slightly leaves the guy still alive, the gunman will return fire, and a fire battle will break out and innocents will die. And I purposely used a stupid low level occurrence incident to show how even the small things can result into innocents being killed.

I am no for the taking away of guns or making them illegal. Like I have said many times, I own a gun, and am considering either buying a pistol. But I do not think that the right people say we do have for all to carry a gun applies to all people in the US.

Back to Moore. Moore is NOT being Anti-American, he does not hate America. He is trying to fix something that he sees as wrong. If that is the case then the abolitionist where anti-America, for we all know America was founded on the backs of slaves. Anyone who has ever tried to change anything in this country is Anti-American.

If you go into his film saying to yourself he is anti gun, want to take away all our "rights", and is Anti-American, you are going to come away from it thinking that. Just like you can find the same sentiments if you watch Lion King too much.

But if you go in with an opinion mind and actually pay attention to what he is saying, then there is no doubt that you will come out with a different opinion.

Maybe if you read it you will understand that he is saying the Patriot Act leads to the government saying what is American and what is not American, it leads to a wide labeling of Un-American, and that the patriot act it self is Un-American.

I believe that every institution of "learning" in the U.S. basically teaches that guns are bad and people with guns are horrible...

Too bad they have their heads shoved so far up their anuses to realize that America wouldn't be here without guns.

Just like in our psychology class... the professor was making fun of "those savages that shoot coyotes and prairie dogs." He went on to tell about how cute and furry these animals and how "civilized" people go to the zoo to pet such animals, not shoot them.

I doubt this pompous blowhard, with his doctorate's degree would even have a clue of how coyotes maim and kill our baby calves, and the prairie dogs spread bubonic plague, ruin pasture land, and dig holes that can break the legs of cattle. The same cattle that provide the beef he so willingly feeds his family yet knows nothing about.

So I just sit there in this class, that I have to pay good money to go to, and listen to his utter b.s. without causing trouble because I have the decency to respect his opinion. Yet he has the nerve to call me uncivilized...

What would Moore have to gain by overstating the Patriot act? Who specifically has been harmed what activist groups have been shut down? And why? Do you believe all that Moore says to be true? Have you read the Patriot act or are you going by what your people tell you? Would what happened on 911 act to loosen the us view on some things that are addressed in the patriot act?

Just for clarification I was not accusing every "pro gun" person on the board for wanting everyone armed. I was only commenting on what one individual (which someone quoted above) was suggesting as a peaceful utopia (everyone armed with firearms). I mean shoot I have enough trouble misplacing my cell phone. Can you imagine me checking three different places for where I left my Beretta?

It is also fun to imagine the traffic stop by the police officer.

Officer: Where is your heat? Its a federal law for you to pack sir.

I did once say that and still believe it to be true.

I am not a supporter of Moore's heavy handed way of getting the message across. But unlike many others I will not say he is something that he is not. I will not say he is anti gun (as in for the banning of all guns, so to answer an above post, why should the professor show an NRA video for guns, BFC is not an anti-gun movie).

The question Moore states is that while it hasn't happened yet, it could happen. And history has shown us that what seems rather small and innocent today will not be tomorrow.

I reffed all day and I'm tired, which means not in the mood to read the whole page. However, here's how I would administer a program to arm all American willing to be armed.

In order to participate in the program the following must apply:

1) The applicant must pass a standard background check. I.E. can't be a criminal.

2) The applicant must pass a basic physical i.e. must demostrate minimum motor functions, not be blind, insane, things like that.

3) The applicant must be of proper age and a high school graduate (simply put, there must be no risk of the gun coming into a school, plus a minimum eduaction level wouldn't be a bad idea)

4) The applicant must complete "x" hours of firearm safety, operations, and law courses.

5) The applicant must qualify at a basic level upon issueing of license and requalify once every "x" years (3 or 5 probably).

Now, the benefits of the program would be

1) The first pistol is tax deductible and must be chosen from an appropriate list (in other words, you don't get rewarded for buying something crazy, as in something you couldn't actually carry pratically

2) You would be issued a firearm identification card, and a conceal carry permit for the one pistol you register5ed through the program

That would be the foundation of my plan

We live in Jersey. The only way ANY type of concealed carry law could pass in this state is if Jesus himself comes down from heaven and endorses it. Even then it would still be a 50/50 chance of getting it passed!

Even in the movie when he goes to Canada, he shows and tells that most Canadians have/own guns, yet their crime rate is nil compared to ours. Then he finishes up the movie by making guns look like these horrible items that are causing the destruction of America... something seems a bit fishy here.

Humans are violent. That's it, there's no further explanation needed. If we didn't have guns we'd use our bare hands, lead pipes, baseball bats, knives, rocks, etc... but you don't see people trying to outlaw all of those items.

In my opinion everyone should be required to take firearm education classes in elementary school, and everyone over the age of 18 should be REQUIRED to carry a gun on their person at all times. Just think about it. If everyone had a gun, who would be crazy enough to try to rob someone? Or if everyone aboard the planes on September 11th had firearms, those terrorists wouldn't have lasted 20 seconds, and thousands of lives would have been saved.

Another thing is that most gun deaths that occur usually involve gangs, and other such low-life beings that I think America could live without. If these people are stupid enough to kill their own kind off, then so be it. Of course it's a crying shame that innocent people occassionally get hurt, but it's not all that often.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

Waiting periods and background checks are there for a reason; there should be no more, no less than these.


It seems that what a lot of people got form the movie was something about American's fear and needs for guns to create security, not that gun are evil. But I haven't seen the movie, so I'm just going off of what I hear from people.
