Still wont work even with the DNS address.Originally posted by OfficerGoat
Arg ... dint realize that box dint respond to ping... should have pinged it myself prior to posting that ip.
Manualy config the IP and ping the folowing,
24.234.30.164
If it responsds then put it in your your browsewr and see if you get a response there.
If that works then you can get DNS out of the other box by doing a run, winipcfg select the adapter that is the nic... the others will proboly be modems and then hit the details button. You will find a dns box in the details screen. Should have 3 entrys or your gateway depending on the router that you are using.
Giod thing is pinging that ip worked.

Not that I know of... they're just freakin expensive any way you go about it, it seems.Originally posted by OfficerGoat
Hey... you wouldnt know where to get one of those cheap.. .hell a 1700 would be fine.. its just a small office. I just need a decent VPN router.
I want one of them... and a Catalyst 6500. I think that'll work pretty good for home use. Hehehehe.

Take a peek at ebay. You never know what you'll find especialy when it comes to gear like this. We picked up a brand new 25cal copy of 2003 server for $450 !!
Not bad for something that msrps at $4000 bux. Gotta pry around some more for VPN routers now... proboly just get a netscreen or somthing simple like that.

i wish i had seen this sooner, i could have saved you some work. sometimes the tcp/ip stack gets corrupted in windows for who knows what reason.if you go to control panel/network and delete the tcp/ip protocol and then reboot. then you reinstall the protocol and 90% of the time your problems are solved because you rebuilt the tcp/ip stack. this is probably what happened when you reinstalled your os. you have a fresh ip stack and everything works.Comment

After reformatting and reinstalling XP..
