Yeah you are right. That is why we've pulled national guardsmen away from their families for six month tours...because there isn't any strain. And don't start a debate on whether we SHOULD be pulling guardsman for long tours, that is not what I'm saying. What I am saying is that Iraq AND Afghanistan HAS put a strain on our military. Perhaps there is a convincing argument that we SHOULD'T be in Germany at all (and I tend to agree with you there)but the fact is our military is strained from what the COMMANDERS feel should be deployed.
So, you're saying that there isn't 85,000 US soldier in Germany? Intersting notion.
And what commanders? Do you mean the TV ex-generals that are always griping? Truth be told, we can always use more, but the troop levels we have now are accomplishing their goals admirebly.
Of course why am I arguing with you? You are the one who thinks the administration is holding the announcement for the WOMD for just prior to the election.
We'll see. I think Bush is A) waiting until everything is in. I doubt we'll see the "smoking gun" that we all want, so instead of releasing a few tidbits at a time I *think* he'll release a ton of small things all at once. And B) Karl Rove knows how to campaign, and I think he'll let the Democratic nominees whine about the "No WMD" claims and then just blast which ever one gets the nomination. That's my suspicion, I may be right and I may not be. We'll see.
That be stupid because it is our tax money and our troops (we are a republic after all) that fought the war (those sort of announcements are not for politicians to hold based on an election).
Well, it's not how I would do things, but then again, I'm not in charge. I don't pretend that the administration is this unfallible entity you know.
So either the adminstration is stupid or no glorious notification awaits the American people.....
Time will tell. I hope we get the notification though. Otherwise there is a very good chance that whatever he had is now in someone else's hands. And, even if it turns out to be true that country "x" has acquired those weapons it is going to be very tough to launch a second war looking for them.
