i suppose youre right. however, it is disheartening to see so many out there say theyre straightedge, without really knowing anything about it or ignoring it all together. to be honest, i would rather not have them at all.

here's a though though. I'm a christian, I don't drink, no drugs, no sex, no cussing... I try and live a "Godly" lifestyle. Does my lifestyle not include some sXe values?

So why is it that being a christian is so uncool while sXe is? Is it possible that sXe is being chrstian in a cool way? Or maybe the first sXe were imitation christians, but didn't want anything to do with God? Ever wonder where stuff like sXe comes from? In my own mind I feel like sXe are just ppl trying to be like christians... only they are compleatly missing the main goal. True they have and exclusive relationship with eachother, but it pales to the exclusive relationship I have with my maker.

I know this is taking things a little far... but hopefully, if nothing else I encouraged some thinking and we'll have less imitators and more initiators. Because in the end, you don't have to call yourself anything to be cool, you just have to stand for something and ppl will follow.

sXe is "cool" because it doesn't force values upon people, whereas Christianity does. The fact that you think it's Christianity except that it "compleatly [misses] the main goal" is an example of this.

Also, no drugs, sex, alcohol is because they don't think they need it; it's seen as detrimental to one's health, whereas Christianity tells you not to because of a book.

well i think it does force values on you, "no drugs, drinking, or sex". If you dont do follow those "values" then your not sXe

If someone talks about doing drugs, or talks about someone else doing drugs, I drop kick them in the face and cut off their sex organs. I have a Minor Threat alter in my room, and I have memorized the lyrics to each song. When I'm bored I walk around telling other people to be Edge, and if they disagree, I give them an hour long lecture and carve X's into their hands.

Yeah, that's the one thing I hate about the whole sXe thing is all the people that try and force their values on others and tell them that they're a bad person for drinking,ect. yet most hardcore kids with X's all over them smoke more cigarettes than anybody I know and trust me sXe music is big here in the NW so I meet a lot of people connected with that scene. I means if it's going to keep kids from doing drugs and drinking then that's a good thing but don't preach to me about how what I choose to do is bad.
