Windows vs. Mac

I peronally dont like Macs but I'm interested in how many people prefer them over PCs with Windows.

Personally, I love my windows. I think I would like mac if it were a little more compatable with other software, and more user friendly.

I can deal with viruses/crashes with windows so long as I get to play the games I like and use the software I like.

However, what people usually tell me, including my dad, is that once you start using a mac it really grows on you... but im not gonna get sucked in myself.

this is a arguement waiting to happen . I absolutely hate macs. Yes I am a gamer and I know macs are progressing very slowly in the game world. I hate their stock mouses, and their gimmicky ads and pcs. I hate their set retial price and their "photoshop and other graphics suites work better on macs" followers. They have a strong fanbase though, mainly because it is an alternative to windows. i love bill gates. he is a genious as well as a money maker. he deserves to be rich. all hail king bill!!!

I mean paintball is the same. What fun would it be for us all to run around with macs.....i means mags?!

Windows!

1) I've never had any stablility problems with XP pro.

2) I prefer to play games when they come out, not 3 years later.

3) I don't want a computer that looks like me desklamp.

I have no problem with windows, I could do with a few less blue screens of death, but......debian is free, good for beginners( such as myself)

I use windows for internet and gaming, basically my everydat computer. I use my mac for video and sound editing. The second that macs are as compatible as windows, I'll switch perminetly (sp?)to macs. Plus, macs look cool. It's all about compatibility. I do hate the mac mouse though...

Oh well as more games are written in Java, Ill think about getting a Mac later, for now Im quite content with Windows and its random failures and have to constant defrag and reformat.

Well, i just used a mac for the first time about 3 weeks ago. The very first thing i noticed was the mouse! the thing was tiny and i couldnt get comfortable while using it because my hands are gigantic.

I've been using school computers lately, and I realised that I don't even put my palm on my mouse at home because it's so tiny. It gives me extra control because my fingers are so much more presise than the movement of my wriste and arm...maybe that's why I'm so good at shooting games.

I love my mac...heres why:

1) the mere fact that UNIX is its backbone is simply stunning. To force it to crash, you'd need a baseball bat...

2) I do video/images/web stuff. All the good programs for those needs are available for mac and are perhaps better suited for a mac than a PC.

3) I work for Duke Men's Basketball. We use a video program called SportsCode. only available on a mac. YOu'd be amazed at what this program can do

4) WIDESCREEN BABY!


I know tons of yall hate em, but whatever works for you is best. Personally, a MAC works best for me. PC for you, cool....

compatability with hardware?
mac: upgrades not needed often.
pc: needs upgraded and if it fits you win a lottery.

speed?
no contest. mac hands down.

user frienliness?
mac osx>xp. it has all kinds of stuff stock.

software?
mac has a window emulater, thus everything windows works for it.
windows. good luck with that one.

stable?
mac. wins again hands down.

graphics?
mac has the largest thin screen display for computers. they also have the standard for graphics.

pc. if you have the best card. best moniter. still not even close.

Sound?
mac-itunes, garage band
windows-media player.

mac wins, again.

pc man myself, and with xp's stability and driver db, i don't have a problem with it at all, 98 was the fluke.

i gotta give it to mac owners for their loyalty though, look what happened to this poor chap when he thought it'd be funny to pull a joke about 'em..
