eh...my first 3 computers were macs (back when i was younger til about age 14?)....it kinda traumatized me, because it was before mac's started getting program compatability. so i was extremely limited in my games. that's the best thing about PC's i guess, is that they're the standard, so most programs are designed specifically for PC's.

how are macs better at image/sound/video editting? i never understodo that.

Windows is meant to be the idiots guide to computers. But Macs are better for art, or video and sound editing.

1-compatibilty with hardware
why in the he||do you need to upgrade a computer to make it compatable with hardware?
1a-how is windows not compatible? besides why do you need to upgrade a mac, there is nothing new for it to need an upgrade for? i am so mad at all of these manufacturers putting out different video cards, memory, motherboards, mard drives, etc. mainly because i wanted to buy everything from WINDOWS and have the exact same computer as everyone else. this is a great time to compare a mac to paintball guns. lets see, everyone has the same setup, same board, same loader, same tank, and same internals. but you can have different colors i suppose-what is the fun in that? last time i checked pcs were cheaper than macs anways, i guess i have to look back into that.

2-speed
i have no clue about this one. but i know for a fact that a mac cannot run a pc game faster than a pc. maybe in can open photoshop .2 seconds quicker.

3-user friendlyness
this means how easy it is to use by the way, not what software comes with it. if you cannot operate a pc you are a complete tard. you use the mouse to point at things, and click....kind of like paintball.

4-software
this means the software on the computer by the way. it is sad that macs need a windows emulator.....i guess everyone wants to be like the best. there are the same number of graphics programs out there for pcs just like macs. i can edit audio-video just as fast on my pc than a mac at school. dont buy into the hype here.

5-stable
i have yet to see a windows xp, or my windows 2000 pc crash. but you know what, if it does it really isnt that hard to turn it off and back on again.

6-graphics
this means the graphics on the computer, not what size the screen is . pcs do have better video cards, so that takes care of graphics cards. onto the screen. since WINDOWS doesnt make monitors, other people do. It is extremely easy to hook a widescreen screen 60 inch hd plasma tv up to your pc if you want to. beat that

7-sound
this usually means the sound quality, not what application you use to play cds. there are hundreds of media players out there, not just windows version. take a look

8-viruses this is a bonus answer
since about %90 of computers are windows of course they will be targeted by hackers. it is like honda getting a bad rep for their cars being stolen the most every year. they cannot help it, there are MILLIONS out there.

now before you attack pcs using bs reasons do some homework. i just like macs bc of personal preference. if you like them good, but do not bash them about things you do not know about. have a nice day.

your udder stupidity amazes me.

1. apples just don't need upgraded. and when they do its been so long its just time for a new computer.

2. a apple G5 is over twice as fast as a duel xeon.

3. macs are user friendly. if you can't figure out a mac go shoot yourself now.

4. they use windows emulaters to run windows programs. thus making program compatability not an issue.

5. xp crashes all the time. thus the need for tech support and computer repair shops. Windows.

6 apple>windows. a g5 has a stronger card. better displays. and has a faster refresh rate.

7 sound quality is better on a mac even. but garage band is not for windows. it alone is enough reason to buy a mac.
8 the reason windows is subject to so many viruses is because its so unstable. mac is a unix base thus making it strong and reliable.

please phantomhitman stop talking, your making it too easy for the mac users. The most obvious mistake you made was "pcs do have better video cards, so that takes care of graphics cards". Last time i checked, the G5 comes with a 9800 pro, the best gc on the market. We can sit around all day arguing which is faster but i have never seen a fair test between a mac g5 and a pc. There is always something biased. Really both macs and pcs are great. However i think apple, caters to people with a little more money and looking for style rather then customization. Where as a pc is customizable to the tooth, you can build your own from whatever parts you want to. What it really comes down to is Functionability vs. Customization.

I am currently using both. I am using a XP Windows LapTop at this writing. But a new Dual Processor G5 at work. I love that thing. It talks to me... I have it set up to day degrading things to me when some application needs my attention. Like "Hey you stupid Chit head..." or "oh my freakin gawd you F'er ..." in feminine voice. And stuff like that. I can make it do whatever I want it to. I have voice commands and it even tells me knock knock jokes. I also have an iCam on it for chat. All of our office has them. We can speak to each other and see each other easily. The thing is blistering fast also. And so intuitive. It fills stuff out for me all the time. Great Monitor too. Can't say enough abou this G5.

I don't game but for graphics and working on a computer the Dual processor G5 totaly blows anything I ever used away.

The wife has an iBook she uses here at home. She loves it. She uses a Dual processor G4 at work. And she carries her iPod everywhere.

We set up a wireless home set up too and the Mac really take to that without a flaw. Same standard so they move into range of any connection and they immediately find it and connect.

I do use some Windows software in them though. MS Office for Mac mostly. But I use Safari for web surfing on them.

Currently everything I got Mac wise has the latest Jaguar OSX on it.
