Its not just a word. It says a lot about the person who says it. How they were raised, their education, their income...
What does it say about their education, how they were raised, their income...

I was/ am being raised in a house with an above average income, I will be graduating with a Bilingual and Sciences Degree from high school, and was raised in what I would consider an average household(strict catholic if you're interested).

But I swear, not alot like some people but I do on occasion. Not infront of people that I have respect for, as someone else stated, maybe shartley, does that mean I was poorly brought up, have a low income and poor education?

Yes anyone who has ever sworn is doomed to a life of poverty and ignornace.

      That's exactly what I meant.

What it says is the person is unable to express themselves effectivly. In other words, they have a limited vocabulary. If they don't have a limited vocabulary, then it means they don't care about how they sound to other people.

People with limited vocabularies and/or who don't care if they sound educated fall into two catagories.

      1) poor and/or uneducated and/or raised poorly
      2) they are in a setting where the language is generally accepted

I further clarified myself in my next post by stating no one cares about eliminating "bad" words. The purpose is to maintain a certain level of decency in public forums.

No one cares if you swear at the bar with your buddies. In the right setting the language can obviously be considered acceptable.
