yeah the French have similar problems, only instead of dropping a letter, they dropped the whole word. Such as valor or honor. surrender, however, is still very popular.

thank you AO for being down, I have been waiting to bash France for tooo long.

          back onto subject

French cuisine, so good, the germans came twice.

btw, all my BC friends think the quebecois are a little soft in the head. I have no proof, just their opinion.

Yet to see any proof of the contrary about anyone from BC.

SlartyBartFast, do you even know anything about your heritage? This whole thread is making fun of FRANCE, not french canadians, France and French canadians have about as much affiliation as canada and germany, France abandonded you guys hundreds of years ago, so why do you feel so partial to them?

Theis jokes are all just jokes, and they are in no way anything like 9/11. I bet you've made fun of a nationality before. Just laugh and everyone will be happy.

Sure do. And it has nothing to do with France, French Canadians, or even North America.

I avoid ridiculing race, religion, or nationality. Some of the "jokes" have crossed the line of acceptability, and the intent of many is clearly not "just good natured ribbing".

The responses directly to me for example are clearly insulting and not "joking".

it's cuz your taking this to seriously, everyone here is just kidding around, and your being serious. I mean for crists sake, you had to bring up 9/11 and compare it to makeing french jokes, what do you expect?

I know it's a double standard, and I know if we were making fun of certain other races it wouldn't be alowed, but just make the best of it or ignore it, stop *****ing about it.

Well, when others start making jokes about the US 'asking' for what happened 9/11 and otherwise laughing at the US for it you'll just laugh it off huh?

Or how about we belittle Americans for their country's failings in Vietnam or mock the soldiers who died there.

Because the masacres of millions of French in WWI and WWII seem to be perfectly reasonable targets, so what's a few thousand Americans?

If you find such descriptions of Americans insulting and unacceptable (as I do), you're hypocritical to support French bashing as clean fun.

We make fun of their surrenders and prowess in battle(or lack thereof!)

how about we belittle Americans for their country's failings in Vietnam or mock the soldiers who died there.

Our soldiers won every major engagement in Vietnam. So you can not mock them. What you can do is make fun of our politicans who managed the war and then abandoned it. Please tell me that you do not believe that our military could not have completely flattened Vietnam if let loose. Further peole don't recall that Vietnam was on the verge of surrendering many times during the war. Most notably during the carpet bombings of Hanoi and the bombardment from the Battleship New Jersey.

Did you know that the departure of the USS New Jersey was one of Vietnam's only pre-conditions to peace talks? They were that terrified of the 26 mile range of the New Jersey's 16 inch guns!

Because the masacres of millions of French in WWI and WWII seem to be perfectly reasonable targets, so what's a few thousand Americans?

No, we do not mock massacres, rather the ineptness of their leadership that allowed said massacres to occur. We also mock basically their government for the same reason is is okay to mock LBJ and Nixon for their management of Vietnam.

If you find such descriptions of Americans insulting and unacceptable (as I do), you're hypocritical to support French bashing as clean fun.

Hell I laugh at Americans all the time. Especially the ones we call liberals!
