sharpshooter, about 5% or less of the people who play sports in high school or even on a college level actually make it to the major leagues. Give the jocks a break, I need someone to flip my burgers and bag my grocerys. Seriously, it is bull**** for anyone to get special treatment at school. If they want to give them special treatment, do it outside of school, not by giving them better grades, easier test, etc. In the end, THEY are the ones who chose to play, no one at the school forced them to do it. Grades are actually important, contrary to popular belief. Well, they are if you want to go to a decent college. Playing football or any sport really won't benefit me greatly later in my life unless I'm lucky enough to make it big and get on a professional team.

Lets just leave it at, sports are for fun, grades are for your future.

And your chances of getting struck by lighting are greater than your chances of winning the lottery.

Not to argue with the insight of this statement, or the truth of it

Consider school is supposed to be about learning isn't this kind of stupid, I realize thats how it is, but umm... hmm.

Academic kids do represent the school. Your school can get more funding based on your student rankings. Every year they rank schools by academic standings and such, and the state looks at that.

automaggin dont worry you will see more favortism in real life when your done school. try getting rear ended by an off duty cop in a minivan when you hit a dear. then going to court and seeing him in his uniform when your in court, cause you got a careless driving ticket.
face it someone will always be favored above you.

to the band- you would not have a sport if it werent for for football team. you should be thanking them for supplying fans that walk to the consession stands at half time, while you are marching around on the field. I hate it when the band complains about football. you dont HAVE to play at OUR halftime, we could get the cheerleaders to dance around in their skirts instead.

as you might have guessed, I play football, and i have started on varsity for the last 2 years. my school owns in football so I suppose we get about as much special treatment as any other school. as far as special treatment goes I get....excused absenses for sports, candy from the cheerleaders a couple times a week, signs put up around school EVERYWHERE, we are spotlighted extremely at every pep assembly, talked about on the tv announcements in the morning a lot, etc. we do NOT get easier tests. (i wish ) I dont know any teachers who give a's to athletes just for being athletes. did you ever stop and think maybe athletes have to study too? why all the hatred? it was football players who got all of the props in the fall, and its basketball players who get all the props right now. whenever acedemic season rolls around then its your time to shine. untill then just suck it up and keep studying and maybe some of these athletes will end up working for u someday. Untill then, either start a club that brings in thousands of dollars a week, or stop complaining.
