Sure we have. Visit any US army or air force base.

The other thing is that there's a HUGE divide between what you NEED and what you WANT.

True. I personally believe that the term Marriage should not be anywhere in the lawbooks.

But, for every law that concerns survivor benefits or the division of estates or any other issue that touches a couple, the law should be written so that each person can name who ever they want as the beneficiary, regardless of gender.

As SlartyBartFast already pointed out it is MORE than a label. How about health insurance? My wife and family can be covered under my health benefit package. What about two women who are married and the one who stays at home has a kid (from either previous marriage/adoption/etc/etc). Aren't they a family? The 'wife' and kid should have some medical benefits.

Then we get to survivor benefits. It should be the same whether the couple is gay or straight. I mean if they have been together for 30 years they have been together for 30 years!!

Finally you get some odd things. An article in Time Magazine pointed out that the law recognizes Cheney's heterosexual kid's spouse as 'part of the family' while his gay daughter's 'partner' is basically just an acquaintance.

It is a bunch of BS....

BTW they are still issuing licenses in Multnomah County (Oregon) even though the Governor has told them to stop. It is coming to a head in Oregon...but so far we stand alone.....

I've already told everyone that is close to me that I will do exactly that. I also have a living will that states no-resuscitation. I've also instructed my closest friend that if I'm incapable, he's to help me.

I don't advocate anything I'm not willing to do myself.

YOu think it has something to do wtih acceptance? I mean that liberals are always trying to figure out why rathr than accepting it is and going on? Or is it that liberals never accept that they are nto better, smarter than everyone else and thus immortal?

                                I don't think so.

My father suffered a heart attack, had tripple bypasss surgery, and had a stroke.

At no time was he denied health care, and was seen to immediately. Regardless of private coverage, our family is still doing well financially and carrying no debt due to health expenses.

My son has been to the Children's hopital a couple of times. Once immediately after he was born, for a serrious burn from pulling a boiling kettle on himself, and for difficulty breathing.

The first two required hospitalisation, cost us nothing, and the service provided was beyond reproach.

And BTW, I once read the US government pays more per capita on health care than Canada. But instead of getting services, it pays for the inflated medication charges and increadulous level of paperwork for the very few that qualify for medicaide.
