    Does anybody NOT see the implications of this...

    The popular party was expected to win...

    Train goes BOOM...

    People are afraid...

    Socialists Win. Troops come out of Iraq...

    IMHO the spanish people are sending the wrong message. They effectively are promoting terrorism indirectly by proving to the terrorists that what they are doing works.

      I made the same point in FactsofLife's thread. IT sends the wrong message. But that is Europe for you. Let's bury our heads in the sand and run away.

          yeah, I've been following that pretty closely. That's become the western European attitude over the past couple of decades unfortunately. When an enemy attacks you instead of crushing that enemy you retreat hoping to appease him.

          Unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

              But it worked so well against the Germans in WW2... I mean, they stopped, when they hit the English Channel and a massive military force. Guess who, surprise, the British and US... why does the rest of Europe even bother to have a military?

                              Ummmmm maybe it could be that they don't think Iraq and the war on terror are related? Maybe they feel that analyzing who exactly is responsible and going after THEM rather then a created war might be better.....]

                                  The Spanish people were more upset at there government instantlly blaming ETA. Even after they found a van with detonators and Islamic tapes, they kept on pointing to them. It just was not their style, and everyone knew that. The people got tired of being lied too, and the voted out the incumbents.
