300hp? The 426 Charger came stock with 425hp.
A restored all original 426 charger also runs atleast 60,000, and goes up from there.

Maybe your friend with a Camaro doesn't know how to launch well, while the person with the eclipse probably destroyed his clutch...who knows.

Also what does it matter about honda or toyota, we don't hate hondas or toyotas, we hate the retards who try to make them look like something they weren't supposed to be. Is a civic supposed to go fast? No. Were the muscle cars supposed to go fast? Yes.

And Ive seen eclipses at car shows with 700hp, but you know how much they sunk into it? Anywhere from 10k to 20k.

We don't bash ricer cars, we express our opinion on the truth. Plus there is a fine line between, import tuner car and ricer.

Also it seems that you are inclined to go import, so here are my opinions:

Eclipse GSX, if you can find one, they are turbo and AWD. The uglier generations are more common, while the better looking curvier ones are a gem. Crappy construction tho, eats transmissions, and Ive never like Mitsubishi at all.
                  =Cheap

Subaru RS, any Subaru has AWD, slap a turbo on there and you can walk away from Camaros from the start...maybe...on a good day...with luck... If you could make monthly payments and have parents that can make a down payment, you could own a used WRX which would kick so much butt. I drove one, omg, it was like a go kart on steroids. Very balanced, very nimble, lots of fun. Not to mention I like Subaru's construction, they build decent cars.
                  =Ok priced to Expensive

240sx, this would be my favorite of the three, since I own a Datsun 240Z. Its one of the few import RWD cars, and the KA engines have a iron block and aluminum heads making it a great motor to boost which most people would say go SR20DET swap(which has 200hp stock). Or if you know alot about engine swaps, and have about 4-7 grand sitting around you could do a RB26DETT swap(same engine found in the R33 Skyline) and pull some numbers that muscle car guys would love and respect.
=Ok cost, if you look.+ swap=Lots of work and expensive

Oh yeah one more suggestion, you could go retro import and find old gen 1 RX-7's, do as myself and get a Datsun, or the old Toyotas boosted make good track times also. This is a harder route because of body work against rust spots, finding them, and making custom mounts for newer engines if you would like.
=Cheap, but a LOT of work involved

Stay away from FWD, its inferior to AWD and RWD. Its meant for economy cars, not fast cars. Why do you think most drag racers use RWD setups? Do you see exotic cars with FWD? Think about it.

                    I would, but I don't own it.

Actually I probably wouldn't, I saw your camaro.

As a matter of fact, my father drives a toyota corrola(sp).

I don't like having a four cylinder, or toyota, but it's spectacular on fuel. Unlike our buick reagal, gmc sierra, audi 5000 turbo(well that one doesn't really work).

It depends on what you want to do. I can buy a car with over 300hp for less than $7,000.
I doubt it would be anywhere near close. There is just more potential in the bigger motor.
Lets look at the copy of Mopar Collectors guide infront of me. There is a nice Cuda with a 340 stoked to 417 running on pump gas putting out 450hp naturaly aspired. Thats only a 340, the 440, the 426 hemi, the 528 wedge would put out even more power. Then you could put nitrous on there and/or a turbo. If its strickly a race car you can get these muscle cars down into the 7's.
I've seen import cars into the 7's too. Muscle or Import is no big deal if all you care about is speed. It just depends on the car and execution of the mods.

I'm not saying that an FF economy import will make a good time. I'm just saying with the right car and the right mods anyone can go fast.

                      .

buy one of these, and put a big motor in it. why? because i will never see another one of these driving around town.
can you say that about any of the cars above? heh.

FooTemps is correct, generally tho, muscle cars are cheap horsepower(unless you add in the gas).

4 bangers take a lot of work and money to get it to run as fast as a muscle car, but they are easier on gas as a daily driver.

Anything can go fast with the right $$$. Just depends how you get there. Unless you are into all full out drag racing at the track where RWD reign supreme.

Also kennedy, good luck with the restoration. Buckets of rust to battle in the future.

what are you all smoking? fuel+o2=speed doesn't matter what car. imports that do 7's are buring easy 10 miles a gallon worth of fuel too. The differance is the sound and the price of the hardware.

Kenny I'm jealous... until I saw it was a plymouth, I would kill for a ford or cheby of the same year.... booya! But seriously, I can't wait to see what you do with it... keep us updated!

well, lots of guys dream of owning an old vette or mustang or chevelle, so lots of guys have half finished ones driving around, occasionally i see a really nice one.
of course its winter now so none are out yet.
