Alright I have to be brief cause I have to go to class. Yes there is a good possiblity. Right now they have a cap on the army to not release soldiers because we have to few. We are occupying to many countries in our efforts to right the world. The government needs people so they can swap out older soldiers for newwers ones. The new draft would prevent people from hiding behind higher education and fleeing the country seeing that we now have exportation treaties with a ton of countries including canada. This has been in the news for several months in canada but no mention of it has been made here in the states until recently (this being the first I have heard of it outside of canadian news). Sorry fellas if it passes looks like everyone under the age of 26 that is healthy is eligible. People are free to whine and complain now."Your just a myriad on inner conflict aren't you?"

hmmm....
Not going to happen.
We need people who are smart, not a D- high school dropout. Today, the soldier must be smart. With the computer knowledge, etc. we cannot afford to have dumbassses in our country's military. Besides, we have a large Armed Forces. Don't give me the sh** about it being too far spread out. Don't expect a draft anytime soon."I've always said that Pixar is the most technically advanced creative company; Apple is the most creatively advanced technical company"

Well now, first if we had gotten the difference between an extradition and an exportation treaty correct I would be more inclined to beleive you. So thats being picky and I know what you meant.. sorry. Show me the statistics and I might beleive you... show me what politician would institute a draft... show me the majority it would take and the super majority it would take to break the filibuster. Tell me which party would do this in an election year. Drafts, except in severe emergency, are gone. US politicians know the price of one and that price is a lost election. We would pull out of Iraq and bomb the country before we would draft, and face it, as others have stated, why? Enlistment is up since 9-11 - people are turned away on a daily basis. Now, if it comes to a draft, fine - I volunteered and was turned away once. This whole US draft thing is just a scare tactic, and until I see the statistics to back it, it just annoys me to see people tell me how likely it is. PS - this last comment does not apply if you are in a position to know what the hell you are talking about - such as a person influencing policy in the department of defense or such. Assuming you are not in a position to know what the hell you are talking about... it just annoys me.Originally posted by argnotAlright I have to be brief cause I have to go to class. After re-reading my previous post, I feel that it's wording was, well.... pathetic. Let's try again.
As more technology is implemented into the basic infantryman's work and equipment, he must be more skilled to undertake it.
Sometimes people will say that the military is just for people who are dumb and unable to go to college(grade-wise;not financially). Now, while you obviously did not need to be a college-graduate, or an extremely knowledgable person, to be a soldier in say, the War of 1812, or Civil War, the requirements of oneself have increased dramatically. No longer must you just be physically fit, and be able to handle the pressure of combat, but you must be able to think. Why do you think all branches of the service have educational resources on the main pages of their website?
Now, in my previous post I was very blunt. A poor decision on my part. Look at some of the programs in development. Like these:
If need be, just do a Google search for mor.....
Now, these will not be implemented for a while, but do they look like something that takes little to no intelligence? No....
In another sense, do we really need this HUGE military that would result from a draft? More people to train = More Cost
More People Drafted = Less Moral
Less Moral = Sub-par working conditions
Sub-par working conditions = Poor Mental/Physical Health
whch = More injuries(physical and mental), not as much willingness to work, etc. etc. etc.
Ok, I am very tired right now so good night.

Great there are to many kids in the walk on fields any way...
This should thin there numbers out.
"Congress brought twin bills, S. 89 and H.R. 163 forward this year, entitled the Universal National Service Act of 2003, "To provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons [age 18--26] in the United States, "
When I finally snap you will be the first to go.

The only person that I remember pushing for a draft in recent years is New York congressman Charles Rangel (D NY)
And he's the ONLY one pushing for it.Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - TygerComment
