So should I buy this camaro?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2477231088

Its got the 5spd, and t-tops I want, and if it actually had a 350tbi put in, thats sweet So long as it doesn't have horrible rust, frame damage, or anything major it doesn't seem to bad if I can get it under a grand. I just wonder how much it would be to get that thing painted since its peeling.

I dunno man...that ones is pretty iffy. seems like to much hassle for me. did you read the description?!

"350 motor 5 speed GOOD CAR TO RESTORE!!exhaust leaks, needs power steering hose, needs body work, paint chipping off. needs tires.seats and interior in good shape, dashboard has cracks, cracked windshield,no rust. motor came out of 1990 chevy caprice with only 87000 miles on it. put motor in,started body work no time to complete. just needs some TLC!!!"

Just seems like too much work. but that's me. if you wanna spend some money on it, go for it!

An exhaust leak is usually nothing to fix, whats the worst that could be wrong, a cracked manifold, thats about $15. It would be getting a full exhaust headers back within a couple months anyway, so I probably wouldn't even bother fixing anything.
A power steering hose, thats probably a $20 part at most. The windshield is probably close to $300, but its nice having a new windsheild I would take the rims and tires off my car now, that solves that problem. Decent dashpad is like 70 bucks.

On the plus side the seats look like they are in good shape, and NO RUST NO RUST NO RUST!!!! It also has the caprice 350 which is a mod I definatly want to to nomatter which camaro/firebird I get, so that saves me some work, and probably about a grand.

Car $1000 (absolute most I would consider paying for somthing like that, although I have a feeling it will go higher than that)
      Power steering hose $20
      Exhaust leak $20
      Windsheild $300
Paint $3-4k (or I could do a $400 macco special, and sell it again before it starts to peel and make some money)
The probably another $500 in misc stuff.

So i'm thinking it would probably be about $5500 to get the thing into real nice shape if it doesn't have problems he didn't mention, or super high milage. I will actually check it out this time before leaving a deposit

So if I can get a car with a 350, a new paint job, and in good shape for $5,500, I think i'm doing pretty well.

NO don't buy that, its more than a little iffy, its on the verge of crap. I dont know how good of a mechanic you are, but i wouldnt buy it. Mileage is maxed out, 2 color paint etc. You would be better off with a grand am.

It doesn't actually have that much milage on it, I don't think any car has 999,999,999 miles on it. I know its 2 colors, thats why you get it cheap, and have it painted.

Whats wrong with it that requires a mechanic? The body is the problem, not the drivetrain (I think).

Although I just noticed the nose looks like its crooked, that cannot be a good thing. I'm thinking screw that

For $1000? That thing should have more wrong with it. I dunno, but it seems like it wil break down more often. I have seen it hapen to many cars. Especially of you want to suup it up. I personaly make engines that get 80 hours total out of them (for racing) so i know how unreliable it can get.

Its a motor from a 90 caprice, so it shouldn't break down any more than a 90 caprice would so long as its taken care of right? Any suping up would be limited to exhaust, underdrive pullies, nothing internal in the motor, unless I got it rebuilt to take the extra power first, so it shouldn't really be putting alot of extra stress on it.
He isn't saying $1000, i'm just saying the most I would pay for that.

I would have to say a good deal then, if it is as he claims.

                  Post # almost 8,000

Looking at the front of it, it looks like the whole car is crooked, thats usually not a good thing, I guess I cannot really know just how bad it is without seeing it.

This is screwy. It says there is an odometer problem, yet these are the readings, the seem fine.

I would definately not buy that car. It looks like it may have been in a major accident based on the replacement body panels and engine. I would not buy it sight unseen no matter how cheap it is. Be patient and keep looking for the right car. I found my 73 firebird with a 400 ci engine for 3000$, but it took me about 6 months to find the right one.

Pass it up dude. You can do alot better for the 5500 you're talking about spending, I guarantee. Not to mention it's a 3rd gen slowmaro... which blows in the first place.

But hey that's just what I think.

The only thing that car has going for it right now is its not slow
I'm getting a camaro or firebird nomatter what you guys say, its just a matter of which one. For $5,500 though you wouldn't recognize that car it would be just about spotless a nice brand new paintjob, interior gone through cleaning and replacing things, bottom of the car cleaned off and painted, new tires, engine bay cleaned up, mechanical work taken care of. You would think it came right off the dealers lot if you looked at it.
But it looks like he probably cut corners everywhere, and its going to have 3in of bondo caked on, so i'm gonig to keep looking. And I have been looking for more than six months

I think I'll ask opinions and then not be happy with them? Whatever man, if you're gonna do what you want anyways, what's the point of asking us?
