The bodies don't flex enough and cracks develop behind the doors. If the t tops leak you can at least get new seals.
Your camaro wasn't faster than a vette of the same year, GM just didn't let that happen. If you raced a vette and won it was probably a differance in driving skills, and just the way the cars were running.
    Its 82-92, not 91.
Not all 5spd cars are beat, and if the car is beat who cares parts are cheap enough.
Umm, you try and prevent body flex, its bad. Cracks develop because there is too much flex, not to little. Thats what subframe connectors, strut tower braces, wonderbars, and cages are for.

GTA was 88, vette was late 70's (I think), my point was that Trans Ams/Camaro had bigger V8 than the 305HO but there were so many of the 305's people forget they made them with 350's. I was not trying to say one was better than the other.

      82-92 my mistake sorry.

I think you actually want a rigid CHASSIS, but I doubt you will find a used Camero with a reinforced chassis unless somebody selling is really into drag racing. Otherwise stick with t tops or you will probably already see the cracks developing. I looked at a lot of used trans ams and cameros before I bought mine. Most of them had the problem unless they had t tops. If you want to deal this problem in what you buy,go ahead.

As far as buying a beat car, go ahead. It sounds to me you are buying something to do a ground up restoration, spend a lot of money, and keep. I was trying to give some advice based on what I found when buying these cars used. But I was looking for a daily drive that I could resell when I graduated.

that front end is definantly not looking good i wouldnt go with it then again i like mustangs and you like camaros so...

anyway you probably know this already but check the seat belts or ask to have pics of the seat belt, if it looks streched out it was probably in an accident.

im just suggesting that because it look like it was in one and he didnt seem to make any mention of it so id be a little cautious with the seller

                no, you suck.

If you're bent on a trash-mobile (this coming from a stout domestic guy), than go for it.

Its obviously been in an accident, I have no doubt of that.
What would you like me to buy Zumina? I don't want a newer car, and i'm not going to drive an older car around in the snow during the winter. That leaves me with basically either a thirdgen, or a mustang of the same years. My only other option woulid be to somhow come up with the money to buy an older muscle car, as well as a newer jeep, blazer, somthing like that. Then I would have to get classic car insurance on the one which only allowes me what, 3,000 miles a year? Because I couldn't afford to keep up regular insurance. And I would have to get kinds of stuff out of the garage for a place to keep it.

I don't know what your budget is, but I'd try to find a NICER third gen.

The point of buying a crappy thirdgen is that by the time i'm done with it, it would be one of the nicer thirdgens out there.
