Sorry I read your post wrong. That's fine. I was only eluding to the fact that spending that kind of cash on a 3rd gen isnt worth it. Why not look into the early 4 gens with the lt1's in them? I'm sure you can find something for around 6k.Comment

I like the way thirdgens look better, its just differant driving a 3rd and 4th gen. You don't see as many thirds as 4ths. Thirdgens are easier to work on, and to modify than 4ths. I just like them better
And actually for the price of a 100k mile early LT1, I can pick up a 41k mile 91 GTA.

I guess my beef with them is that you start off so much further behind with the boat anchor 305 that's in the majority of them.Comment

A friend of mine bought a 92 Camaro for 500 dollars. The transmision (automatic) was broken, but all they did was pull the transmision and use a rebuild kit they found. Neither my friend nor his dad was a mechanic but they fixed it no problem. It runs great now, the body is in decent shape too, just a few dings. No rust or anything, they could probably sell it for a few grand now.

But will they also get the same milageOriginally posted by PyRoThose boat anchor 305's can be modified to have just as much power as the stock LS1's do, and still be streetable
Seriously though 3rd gens arnt that bad.. but the powerplants are definantly on the anemic side.
Now... onto this car... The engine has got 90k on it... why did it come out of the other car? 90k is alot of miles for a tbi 350. (Which is still an extraordinaraly aneamic motor)
Yeah the front is definantly tweaked. That is concerning... frame damage? Not good.
With the milage that car has on it you will proboly need to do bearings, shocks etc as well.. Tack on another 100-200 bucks for that stuff
Personaly I'd say you can do better. Keep your eyes peeled

Seems fishy to me...like everyone said before a new motor plus front bumpers equals major front end accident.

It probably died, or the damage was so extensive it was the major cause of it dying. Notice how the front fenders and bumper have been primered or replaced, can't really tell by the pictures...you'd have to actually be there to determine the extent of whats wrong with it. Thats why its always nice to buy a car within driving distance to really check it out, or have a professional mechanic go over it, like compression tests, bondo work, hidden gremlins, etc.Comment

If the damage was enough to kill the motor the car gets junked. Its just not worth fixing these cars with that kind of damage. And yes I can see the fenders were replaced, if it was closer I would go check it out, but its not worth the drive to go look at somthing like that.

do not bother with a car like that, why put hours of work into a early 90's car that is on its way to the junk yard? If you want a camaro then find a 1st gen, bottom line. Those are the only ones that are really worth putting alot of time into.
or why dont you just work n save and pick up a newer Ls1? at leased it will be clean and fast.
i have about 11k right now and i was going to pick up a Sn95 cobra but ill wait a half of year and pick up the badass car of the 20th centery... 2003Cobra ..mm.. untill then.. 01Jeep!

I really like the 3rdgens. I had a GTA in high school and it had a 350. It was faster than a LT1 vette. I think it was cause there was more rear end weight. The only thing I would look for in 82-91 ta or camaro is; don't get a 5 speed ( those cars get the bag driven off of them), and don't get one without T tops. The bodies don't flex enough and cracks develop behind the doors. If the t tops leak you can at least get new seals.Comment
