I just got a WRX, and though the only stick I drove before it was a Wrangler, I must say that I love the WRX. Super fun to drive.

Or you could just wait for this to come out. Not sure of the price, but everything I've read says affordable, though I'm not sure what that means.

I believe that the slingshot is projected to be under 20,000, but don't quote me on that.

Just some ideas off the top of my head are

Dodge neon SRT-4 starts under 21,000<--0-60 in 5.8

Base model Nissan 350z's start at 26,000, as do Mazda RX-8s <--Two Great Cars ^0-60 in 5.4

Hyundai Tiburon

Subaru WRX <-0-60 in 5.4

Honda Civic Si

Nissan Nismo sentra SE-R V-spec

Honda Prelude

Acura RSX

you can't get anything fast and new for the kind of price he's looking for unless it's ricer.

I'm not sure how much Golf GTI's are, might want to look into those though.

the WRX is very nice, but it's in the upper range as far as your prices go.

The hyundai tiburon is actually a pretty nice car, worth the money in my opinion.

And Honda Civic Si's and Nissan Sentra SE-R's are always nice

The upper end Focus is also pretty cool from what I hear.

Like I said, I can only get a new car... (I suppose its a good thing, but I wouldn't mind a 5.0 stang or an F-Body (Camaro or Firebird)).

I'm thinking about the new mustang, I looove that car.



I like most of the cars mentioned so far, especially the 350z and the RX8. But, these lines on the Dodge Slingshot page are a little troubling:

Rear-mounted, 3-cylinder, gasoline engine delivers 100 bhp
0-60 mph time of about 10 seconds, due to power to weight ratio of 17.4 lbs/bhp

all i have to say is the NEON SRT-4!!!

very fast! 0-60 in 5.9

1/4 in mid 13's

named car and drivers sport compact of the year amoungst numerous other car of the year awards

cheap too (relativly speaking), 20k and if you can do up to 25 you can have the factory add on the bigger turbo and intercooler and bump them ponies upwards of 280's.

another good option is the mitsubishi evolution....but i think those are around 30k...but not sure.
