Cheapish Car That is Fun to Drive and Fast?

I agree with shartley... Power is a wonderful thing... as long as you know how to use it. I would not get one of these cars as your first. Alot of those cars can take you from 0-Too Fast in a matter of seconds.
I know you want somthing fast but its not worth getting you killed. I know If I had a car like that when I was 17 I would have killed myself. Theres some urges at that age that you can't deny. Its not worth it to get in the heat of action and realize for 2 milliseconds that its more than you can handle and end up in a telephone post. At the end its too late.
Go to... www.srtforums.com MULTIPLE members have died JUST in the SRT-4 forums ALONE... ALL of them were young and inexperienced.
As with everything power comes with responsibility. You dont know responsibility until you have driven YEARS in the real world.Last edited by Butterfingers; 05-12-2004, 08:23 AM.Did you hear about the new european weapons contracts? I'd reccomend the Sentra SE-R.
Its quick, but not race-car fast. Sentra's handle gorgeously, which should help you stay out of accidents. They are so light and quick you can stop plenty fast or get out of the way if theres a problem.
165/175 hp (auto/manual) in a 2400-2500lb car is plenty fast.
And, you can get them for well under 20K brand new.
If I hadn't gotten my mustang, I would have gotten an SE-R.

Someone mentioned a mustang. Thats a good choice if your heart is not set on new. New ones suck. Get a 5.0 and spend the rest on suspension and engine. You will have the sickest car. But you gotta know how to drive rear wheal posi traction. If you really want new (someone else mentioned this) go with a dodge neon rt. They look nice, they are cheap and have good handling and power.

You underestimate me
I have alrady looked at the crash test results on many of these cars, and the mental list I have of cars I like was alot bigger before. But, I understand what you mean about driving fast. Thats why I put the "Fun" before the word "fast", because I want a car that is fun to drive just from home -> school -> home every day....
I don't really need fast, as long as it isn't painfully slow.
Also, yea I'm definitly looking at the Nissan Sentra SE-R V Spec, because it seems pretty practical and fun.
Thanks for the comments and help (and not to be repetitive, but keep it comin
),

If you want something safe. Make sure it has good brakes. People dont usually think about brakes. Try to get something with front and rear disc brakes. It helps a lot.

VW GTI 1.8T or GTI VR6...
1.8T is a turbocharged 1.8 Litre 4 Cylinder....around 180hp.
VR6 is a 3 Litre V6...delivering 200hp.
Both cars a very fast (almost exactly same 0-60 and quarter times) and extremely easy to mod...especially the 1.8T.Comment
